It is about an angle but it’s convex ground so you have to move your wrist or the axe to compensate for that I find it’s easiest just on a big stone in a wood carrier thing then just move the axe up and down the stone but kinda rock it back and fourth just a little to get that convex grind

Helko used to make a Pro-Series Splitting Axe with a 3.75lb head. Here's the video review... kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHjNZoFpgq50j68 It looks like they don't sell it anymore, but does a great job splitting. If a 3.3lb head with a 31" handle sounds good, I would suggest the Vario 2000 Splitting Axe www.helkonorthamerica.com/store/p13/Vario_2000_Splitting_Axe.html
