I think Dr. Walls over complicates the concept of continued sanctification. I think that very simply we won't carry sin with us after death if we are in Christ, because our eternal life is in Christ. If we want to term that moment a "moment of purgatory," then I have no objections. But I don't think that we will need continued sanctification after our death.

I'll comment to further my thoughts. I think that I can get on board with what Dr. Moore was talking about in regards to purgatory and his clarifications on the matter. Perhaps they were saying the same things and Dr. Moore had the benefit of the "afterthought questions" as opposed to Dr. Walls.

2 Corinthians 5:8 i always used that as my argument for no intermediate state, but we know Jesus when he went into the grave set prisoners in afterlife free per 1 Peter 3:19. Its an interesting topic. Good episode. And then Revelation 20:10 -15 about devil and the beast and then hades and death being thrown into lake of fire for eternity if that is hell we speak of and if that last forever. I dont think anyone gets out the way I read it but maybe there is a state where we are in hades and or something like that and then judgement happens. Soo naybe onky unbelievers are in a intermediate state but Believers are in heaven.
