Thanks for making this video!! My 15 yr old son is getting into knife making and is nervous about making mistakes. I've purchased the HF2 for him and this video was great for set-up. Helps to have a great teacher!! So glad that you include your natural style in making your video. Thanks again!

Charlie Evans Hello! Any notes on efficiency/cost of running? I’m curious as to whether or not a propane forge like this would cost more to run than a coal forge would. Thanks!
@shanemccarthy15625 жыл бұрын
@@leonardrichards3457 No, Propane is a lot cheaper. "Coal might be cheaper, but "Blacksmithing Coal" will most likely be more expensive.

Stumbled across this on Reddit. First of all I own a HF1. Love it and forge weld with it all the time and have had no problem making hammers with it even. It's a great forge. Allan Beasly over at curiosity forge recently got their double as well and put it thru the paces. When I received mine the wool was not rigidized at all it would still recoil when I pushed on it. I sprayed it down with liquid silica to harden it then coated the inside with castable refractory. Rigidizer and castable are not interchangeable they are successive steps. The forge should not be used untill a suitable castable refractory such as Mizzou or satanite is applied. Also burner depth should always be near the middle of the refractory. This allows that space and the forge to act as a flare and keeps the burner tip from getting too hot and distorting making removal a pain. I use my choke as the depth limiter and pull the burner out when I'm done for the day to keep the heat from melting the hose(happened twice). I'll be checking out your other stuff man 👍

A little slow pace at the beginning but the pace picks up around 4ish minutes. The jump cuts and other editing is pretty funny. Video has great information too.

do it! I have a feeling the price of these forges are going to continue rising, last time I checked It was already 40 or 50 bucks more than when I bought mine... I feel like me and the bad blacksmith are the unofficial Hells forge fan club on youtube and reddit lol

Thank you! I have a two burner coming. I’m tired of burning my welding gas to heat metal. I have no great aspirations in forging. I just want to “cherry red “ metal and bend it, and melt copper wire and form it. And maybe.

So I'm curious. I bought the forge and have used it for a few hours so far. My concern, what are the odds of these nozzles heating up to the point that they melt or catch fire? Is that possible I'm not too familiar, like how far down do you put these red burners?

This was a great review, so good that I have subscribed to the channel, I can't wait for my internet points to arrive. I'm in the process of checking reviews for a forge, so far this model is winning. I have some questions though, the wool, do that get damaged over time for use? And if so, do fibers start coming out?? Also, with pieces coming out, since it doesn't have a frame in the opening won't that damage the wool? As you can see I'm very new to this and I'm asking a bunch of questions before buying anything. Any help will be highly appreciated

@jakei83224 жыл бұрын
close your air valve on the one thats shooting flame, if the burner isn't on the flame goes up the tube, like he said it turns into a a chimney.

Cool video but I have one thing to say. DEVIL FORGE IS THE BEST AND THE QUALITY OF THEIR FORGES ARE THE BEST I HAVE SEEN IN A FORGE. It might seem too thin, but really it’s a very sturdy design. If you are still worried, then there are way more forges that devil-forge make that have a thicker steel wall. Anyway great video thanks for sharing
