You ran THREE EFFIN' MILES?!!!! OMG! Bravo! I actually became anorexic because of this "beauty" stuff plus some other personal factors. I'm recovered now though, so I have a better understanding of the damaging psychology that these photoshopped images/videos cause in women, and I try to spread awareness as much as possible. I remeber seeing a video of a model at a photoshoot plus the result of the photoshopping afterwards. In real life, she had quite a bit of belly fat, just like an average person. After the photoshop, she looked like the women in this video. 😕 So, don't feel bad about yourself for not being like a centrefold model! Because what you're seeing is an ILLUSION!

Not just confuse the other girls. Marti is plain lucky that the redhead in green DIDN'T move to get up to the same beat of the others, otherwise Marti's cartwheel while using the poor girl as a prop without consent or planning would have resulted in two injured girls (with the redhead taking the biggest brunt of it) Marti had a chance to show off the dance moves and polished gymnastics technique when they were showing the solos and then how high and polished she could jump. Meanwhile, THIS particular test wasn't about how she could somehow do her own choreography or whatever the story is signaling is "special" about Marti. This test is to see how fast can a candidate learn a choreography AND, most importantly, can the candidate move in sync with the rest. It would've made more sense for Marti to do the in sync and learning a new choreography after watching/practice three times FIRST and completely fail it only to redeem herself in the solo tests that require her to show off the gymnastics and maybe even a few dance moves. This way, not only would it show the strengths/weaknesses clearly on top of the thematic lone wolf crap Marti's doing, but it would also not turn Marti into a Mary Sue who can disrupt a test for everyone else and be rewarded for it.

This is an old comment so you probably won't see my answer but I think the reason this 'works' for the story is that it's established that the Hellcats haven't been doing very well in competitions lately, and that part of that may be outdated or uninteresting choreography. I think the coach responds to what Marti is doing here /because/ it's very different to what the other girls are doing. It isn't so much about technical skill, though she demonstrates that she does have that too, as it is about recruiting someone who could potentially help them come up with new ideas and choreographies, rather than just follow them. I totally agree that in real life this would be suuuper risky behaviour and that they definitely give Marti a lot of Mary Sue traits (e.g being so good at music, gymnastics, academics, dancing, being very conventionally attractive but 'effortlessly' so unlike someone like Alice, having every man she meets fall hopelessly in love with her etc etc)

this was like one of the greatest tv shows that I think the cw had ever done and they wound up canceling it and it's not fair. Well it's not, there was so many people out there that actually loved and enjoy this, Hellcats was truly a great one and I enjoyed it and I know other people did too. Oh my goodness, even the music was awesome and this is coming from a guy who only listens to hard rock and heavy metal. The CW needs to put this back on, well never mind. Those who played in this tv show back in the day are probably all way to old now to do something like this again, It's a shame.
