Localisation Confusion - I've noticed when fighting the bugs, on patrols/agrod monsters that call for backup, they can't call for multiple re-inforcements back to back. They'll do the animation for calling for backup, and a bug hole STARTS to pop, but they won't spawn. So at higher difficutly it slows down the waves significantly.

Also keep in mind the planet you are on with the Las-16. Heat build up on certain planets is affected differently too. So a hot planet it builds up faster than on cold planets. Something else to keep in mind when choosing your loudout.

Okay so this is misinformation though granted none of it is explained clearly. The planet temperature has no bearing on heat build up. Just heat dissipation(cooling) Hot planets make them cool off slowly cold planets cool off rapidly You always have the same firing uptime on every coil no matter the planet

Which is just another neat way to balance and promote using different loudouts for not just missions and which forces you are fighting. But even the very planet you are fighting on.

@@khorne133Realistically it doesn’t matter much. You should keep reloading those heatsinks until you get to the last heatsink. Even then you will likely get resupplies anyway. So you can still take it on hot planets just fine.

that or stack AP levels as it sits on a target. Either would do well. ATM the scythe is just not great, and it doesn't feel like its doing anything different than a worse ballistic weapon. I hope they define beam laser weapons a bit better because the orbital, cannon and scythe all use the same tech, but only the orbital laser really feels like its drilling into opponents armor, and I'd love if they leaned into that theme a bit more.

I'd like to see laser weapons pierce enemies. The scythe should be able to tear through waves of chaff like it's nothing, while struggling with anything more, much like a real scythe lol. The laser cannon would benefit too. It's in a much better place after the buff, but still a little below par. The only thing keeping it afloat right now is its ability to take advantage of a bug to kill chargers quick, but I don't think that'll last forever.

If you played the first game you would know what to expect. Despite the changes between the games the devs have been very faithful to how the original game worked for the most part and aren't pulling this stuff out of thin air. There was a little bit of creep in the first game but you could always play whatever weapon you wanted- I've done Helldives with the Constitution, which is literally just an M1 Garand WWII infantry rifle that they put in for fun (looking forward to that maybe being added to 2 this Liberty Day). In terms of viability there will never just be one option

Easy way to balance the Scythe is make it's damage output increase the longer the beam is on. So starts at 300 damage/second but increases say 100 damage every second up until it overheats.

Also, the localisation booster I think is amazing?? I'm not sure long it delays spawns, but I've been using it a bit and I do notice the difference, namely the gap between drops feels longer. Not sure if I'm playing differently or if it's just a placebo. Need to test it more

@Arkonoid404 I was testing the new warbond as soon as it was added and in my testing of the booster it seems to reduce the amount of enemies you have to fight in between bug breaches. Still not a 100% guarantee as I am still running tests on different scenarios,even have the footage captured too

Yes the Sickle has a DPS of about 680 where the Scythe only has a DPS of 300, but the Scythe is a beam weapon, and the Sickle more or less has the same profile as a Liberator. If you are having to reload it because you let it overheat or you are on a hot world then you might as well just taken a Liberator at that point (580 DPS). So not all that great in my mind. Fun option sure but meh. The Dagger has the same damage profile as the Senator so as long as it does not overheat too quickly it would be the same as taking the revolver to deal with little bugs and such 1 or 2 tapping them and not having to worry about reloading ever. I dont see any issues here with potential power creep.

I once heard a good idea for laser beam weapons, like the las-5 or the laser cannon. Keep them as they are, but the apply a debuff to enemy armor. In other words, they reduce the lvl of penetration needed to get through the armor where the heat is. So for example, you shoot the laser on a charger leg(heavy armor), after a second or so the armor is weakened(medium armor), then you or other helldiver can shoot it with a medium penetration weapon. the effect would disappear if you stop beaming the same place after a few seconds.

Except they're not stronger, they're weaker than their bullet counterparts. The power is in the fact that if you are mindful of how you shoot, you can have infinite ammo. But power-wise, they suck compared to bullet-using weapons. I've tried all but the arc shotgun so far and yeah, safe to say I swapped away from the las guns pretty quick.

Just to clarify,if you were to wipe out the entire map from enemies,you would still see them either spawn out of thin air or from the edges of the map then patrolling towards your approximate location. This happens with every faction

The info for this game just has not been collected into one location like a wiki yet, but if you have the time to trawl all the KZbin videos and tweets with the developers, a lot of the inner mechanics of the game are described. There's a safe period after destroying a drop ship/big breach where they cannot spawn another. This might(?) extend that time, or just make the enemies less likely to call for backup.

Power creep won't be an issue so long as older weapons get brought up to the new standard but primaries can only be so good, I can't imagine a primary coming out dumpstering a charger or bile titan, that doesn't seem like it's in the design docs.

note about the sickle: its a weapon that existed in the first game, and was widely seen as one of the two best primaries of the game (the other being an energy shotgun), so it feels more like that weapon reflects the one of the first game rather than it being purposefully stronger to create powercreep, and being designed for the sole purpose of being better than other energy weapons. Overall beams were pretty terrible in the first game, and it still the case here (may be duie to how their damage is applied, over time as a burn instead of immediately on impact), so it may just be a case of other neergy weapons needing a buff over the sickle being overtuned. as for this gun, its basically a better liberator, but not overwhelmingly so, so while I expect to see it nerfed because it is a straight upgrade out of the "spin up" delay, it doesnt need much to become a sidegrade (less reserve clips/a slower reload could be enough to incentivize cooling the gun over just reloading to save time)

Localisation Confusion does not affect spawns. It means that the ever-present patrol that spawns to pursue you will be less aggressive, thus giving you and your squad more time to breathe. Spawns will remain the same.

About 'Localisation Confusion': My best guess according to description (non-tested) is that it may increase a hidden internal 'cooldown' of the enemies trying to trigger a Bug Breach/Bot Drops. I guess a cooldown is needed and coded because if not, when 4 players are running arround the whole map shooting enemies left and right, the amount of Bug Breachs/Bot Drops would be insane, so there has to be some kind of limitation/cooldown running in the background. And that booster increases that cooldown timer. I don't think it is - like someone suggested - like there is a timer TRIGGERING those, the only thing that can trigger that are enemies becoming alerted/atacked by the player and not stopped in time.

My experience with the armor and the blitzer especially is that it enabled my team to do a full shock squad. Everyone wore armor from the new warbond and we had blitzers or spitters (or both), with some stun grenades and arc towers to boot, with normal grenades and a grenade launcher to cover things the arc weapons can't. We got very very good at killing anything quickly, and only really needed resupplies for stims and grenades XD EDIT: The punisher, is indeed, effectively a grenade launcher. I don't think it blows up holes though, keep that in mind.

My guess is the booster affects patrols, because if I remember correctly those are kinda the only ones that COULD be effected. Since drops and breaches are caused by enemies and all others are kinda static, less patrols would be EPIC though, they are a huge issue

I mean I have been running 7s all day and have noticed no issue whatsoever never reloading with the weapon and still crushing enemies

Simple math. The sickle has an rpm of 750 and a damage of 55. If you convert the Sickle’s damage into the same units as the scythe which is 300 dmg/sec, the sickle does 687.5 dmg/sec (750 rpm is 12.5 rps, and 12.5 rps x 55 dmg = 687.5 dmg/sec). It’s doing double the damage as the scythe. Still probably not gonna use either but just worth noting the damage difference.

Laser Beam weapons should build heat (armor piercing) when firing at one spot on a enemy. This would differentiate the laser beam weapons from the more traditional ones. The Plas needs a larger mag too.

A slight damage ramp up to the the target/area of the target takes as it is hit by the beam weapons could help there damage a bit. One idea was that as the beam continuesly hits an area of armor it would begin to weaken the armor. You could have faster build up on the laser cannon than the scythe but even with the scythe you could be able to heat medium armor to be penetrable by light penetration guns/ your scythe after dropping the armor enough. Laser cannon could do heavy armor as it already does medium armor pen.

My guess is that due to the fact that it seems like there's a cap on the number of bug breaches at a time and there seems like a cooldown between them, that the localisation confusion probably reduces how often those will happen. Same goes for Bot dropships.

I'd like to see helmets with bonuses, like night vision, infrared vision to see through fog or enemy highlighting. It feels like helmets are just designed to be purely cosmetic at the moment, which is fine if the devs want to just keep it that way. But I feel a little sad every time I check a helmets info and see the default stats and 'no additional bonuses'. They don't even need to be significant bonuses, just something to add a bit of flair. Like a medic helmet could show how many stims other helldivers have left, and highlight their injuries. Which not provide any significant effect to how you play because support roles aren't really viable at the moment, but I would still love to see such bonuses.

There is no power creep issue. Design intentions are that the guns are all efficient at different jobs. People don't realize that the scythe is basically a sniper. Laser weapons cover HUGE distances, and do MASSIVE damage to weak parts. I don't think Las-16 will replace anything, because it is it's own thing.

I feel like the sickle is gonna be amazing against the robots. It’s a great medium-long range weapon that can deal with the bots from a distance. The breaker is still probably best against the bugs and against large swarms of enemies, but this is a good answer to deal with enemies from range

Arrowhead really needs to do a TLC pass on all of the primary weapons. Instead of nerfing the most powerful weapon like they did with the Breaker, they need to buff the other weapons up to the Breaker and Sickle's level so that they are really good at what they are designed to do. Marksman rifles feel almost entirely useless, especially the ones that claim to have medium armor penetration. They need to feel better to use so that people actually start bringing a more diverse loadout.

I used to complete ignore the laser weapons. Found them completely useless against the robots but against the the bugs it's very niche. Its good for taking out the smaller guys so you don't waste ammo which is super helpful when like ten pop up every bug breach. So I'm exited to get the dagger so my primary can handle the bigger bugs.

I feel that they still have the ability to add boosts for certain weapons via armor. So armor that boost laser weapons armor pen for example. Still leaves options to give weapons a buff that involve strategy

Big advantage I see for an energy pistol is that I keep forgetting to reload my pistol. Kind of annoying to swap to the panic button just to realize you played yourself. Obviously still possible with an energy weapon bht less likely

it looks like the thing about that final weapon is the infinite capacity, so i assume it never needs reload and cant overheat. would be great to never have to worry about ammo, but depends on how potent the weapon is too

I haven’t used the, what are they called, EMS Strikes and motors? But I feel Iike when I get hit by them I get slowed. It’s hard to know in the chaos of this game if that is what is slowing me down or if it was something unrelated. I wonder if this armor mitigates that as well? Will have to test when home later tonight..

Finally I won't die to my teammates arc thrower, I was playing with my buddies last night, and we were more afraid of the arc thrower than the bile titans or chargers! The amount of teamkilling and accidentals was 6 or 7 from one gun. Had a blast 10/10 would do it again, but next time I'll be wearing this armor.

Meta and power creep is built into every game with more than 1 option at any given point. Chess, basketball, and every video game ever made has power creep. Even when you gut "stats" you'll just find other forms of creep that aren't as obvious as some numbers of a games stat page, like what happens in Chess all the time. Better to ask the devs to just make everything at least viable so you can comfortably use your preferred gear. And a bonus question to ask yourself, "Can I enjoy a game without using what KZbin tells me is the most meta?"

About new armor: They should have an additional effect to remove stun from EMS Mortar, Orbital EMS and Stun grenade. I feel like only providing protection to Arc (although very strong) will never be really worthy compared with other armor perks, so it'll end up being gimmicky and not that strong armor pick overall. Giving it that second effect would compensate a bit for value.

I really like how it feels to hip fire this weapon!! nothing beats hosing down bugs. In fact if you run around hipfiring this thing it kinda feels like the flamethrower from DRG Its super satisfying.

I just finished grinding out the blitzer, It is just a baby arc thrower It fires instantly no Chargeup and then has a short cooldown. It has much less range than the arc thrower and it does not chain. It fires several bolts of lightning but they usually all hit the same target. It seems to do just as much damage as the arc thrower as well, It 2 shots brood commander heads and 1 shots warriors heads. I think I would rather have the arc thrower and a different primary tbh though. The range is a big part of what makes the arc thrower powerful.

in my books, a primary must be able to hold its own against a horde, and the support weapon should be able to deal with mid- heavy armoured enemies.

Scythe just needs rework, Imo it should set things on fire if held on them for a period of time. or the hotter the ICE gets the more the damage/AP ramps up, so keeping careful watch of heat and keeping it hot enough to get max output but not overheating could be a cool risk/reward setup for the gun, could also be a cool interaction with the planets since on a hot planet you get to max damage quicker but its harder to maintain while on a cold planet it takes longer but can be sustained for longer too. With that the sickle is better for Light enemies and the Scythe is better for Medium ones and each have their roles and gameplay elements

The laser Scythe needs to do more damage the longer you maintain the beam. Right now it does not do enough damage. Either buff the damage completely or give it more damage over time.

Honestly I use the P-19 Redeemer to mow down scavengers and small robots to conserve primary and support ammo. Sometimes I use it to delete raider bots as an oh shit button.

Idk why an energy weapon has the audio of a standard-ammo rifle. Could have made it sound crazy and it would have been something so small to implement yet really add to the experience of using the weapon. At least its viable, regardless of audio!

Las-7 pistol would basically be a sidearm with unlimited ammo. That's the upside to it. Now how it does against targets I have no clue. Unlimited ammo does sound like big upside.

I think the sickle is a fun weapon, but doesn't dominate the primary market. Certain weapons are very good vs different enemy types ( scorcher vs bots, slugger vs bugs etc), but I think they really nailed the feel of the sickle and I love it. The scythe on the other hand is okay, but it doesn't cause a lot of stagger like the other weapons which I think is why it feels bad

if localization confusion meant even ONE LESS bile titan spawning in an entire mission, it would still be hands down the best booster besides stamina enhancement. and people are saying it's even better than that lol. also my problem with the sickle is that it blows the las cannons DPS out of the water. i get the las cannon has medium armor pen so it can punch higher than the sickle can, but the sickle probably has double maybe even triple the raw DPS of the las cannon. it's honestly kinda sad lol. on the brightside though, the sickle is great paired with the las cannon since it obliterates close quarters targets that the las cannon isn't great at dealing with. like hunters/chainsaw bots. it just feels weird in scenarios, for example, a charger charges past me and instead of taking out my heavy support weapon, i swap to my laser assault rifle because it's DPS is so much higher that i'm better off using it to shoot a charger's tail than my shoulder mounted bazooka-laser cannon.

While it's true that the new Sickle absolutely dumpsters the Scythe, that isn't so much that the Sickle is a huge power creep. Comparing it to the Liberator that you start the game with, it has some up sides and down sides (mostly the windup time can very easily get you killed) but ultimately is a very similar weapon that fills a similar role. The problem is the Scythe and the fact that it was already power crept by the starting rifle.

The Sickle was my favorite in Helldivers 1 but after the Breaker/Railgun fiasco I'm worried about how the community will take it. It was a general purpose weapon that felt good to use so no doubt it'll be pinned as a meta weapon but I think against the armored automatons it might be frustrating to deal with hordes or armored enemies. Maybe a good way to make sythe more viable would be to have it heat up armor making it more vulnerable to breaking.

I've used the punisher plasma, and as it is, it's not easy to actually hit with. The rounds move pretty slow and seem to go through bugs at times.

I unlocked the arc-12 blitzer and so far I think it's really good. It has a firerate that is slightly slower than the slugger, but one shots warriors and anything smaller. Spewers go down in 2-3 shots and it can shoot multiple targets at once making it really effective at clearing hunters (as you can one shot multiple hunters per shot). It doesn't appear to go through charger or bile titan armour though and the range only seems to be around 50 meters.

Yep, no arc but it hits multiple targets in its arc. It has a stun effect (use it on an ally with the new armor and they'll stumble or fall), and it technically CAN kill a charger, it just takes forever. A teammate tested it and did kill a charger with just the blitzer. It's the perfect compliment to the spitter which does poorly against enemies in your face.

Stun grenades are ridiculously strong. you're thinking too small scale! Stun them.. and you can pull double duty from your support call ins. Stun > call in your support weapon ON the charger.

Plasma shotgun feels like a decent sidegrade to the slugger. You get AOE explosive damage and 96 reserve ammo for the tradeoff of DPS and range. I prefer not needing to aim for the head on spewers and hive guard so it feels like a fair exchange. I'd imagine on the bot side of things the explosive ammo would come in handy against scout walkers but I haven't tried it yet.

To be honest the only gun that everyone agree on to be good is the sickle. Everything else is niche. We already have solid weapons like the breaker, punisher, slugger, defender and scorcher. A lot of other stuff just needs to be buffed imo.

Its really strange seeing people who didnt play the first game coming into the second game and realizing that the sickle cancels out the scythe. Dont worry about power creep, it was fine for the most part in the first game and I trust it will be fine in this game.
