The Helldivers 2 community is awesome but one thing i really don't like about it is that it's hard to discuss any lore about the enemies or the Super Earth's dystopian nature because 90% of repliers will say something about treachery and calling an officer or a 500kg bomb.

I definitely think it’s and example of how effective propaganda can be. The bugs are more believable as mindless enemies, though to bots seem eerily similar to the recent enemies of the US, just fighting to wind back their land, and liberty. Yeah it's nice to play as bad guys in this day and age. The Terminids weren't always as menacing as they are now, the Cyborgs were just miners fed up with Super Earth and wanted freedon, and the Illuminate just existed with powerful technology. We didn't need to go to war with them, but we did and capitalized off of it.
