You don't have to sweat 24/7 if that's not your thing. To me Helldivers is great. It's basically what I was looking for. What made me first fall in love with Helldivers is that the game never breaks immersion. There are no lobbies or menu trees. The ship acts as a hub where you access everything through terminals and when your ready to drop you literally walk to the Hellpod and strap in. Instead of jumping to a loading screen a cinematic starts, your pod is shown ejecting from the destroyer, the theme kicks in like Klendathu drop and you are consumed by the deafening roar of reentry as every fiber of your being wants to scream in jubilation at the ass-kicking the enemy is about to receive. Then you hit dirt, your character rises from their pod in a freedom pose, cape billowing, and your off. Even if you join a game in progress, your first spawn will always give you that cinematic. It's awesome!

Frankly it's a strange thing seeing them do the sequel looking like Apex Legends. I guess what I'm trying to say is they did their games for themselves, not mega corporations or shareholders. I love the unique way helldivers competitive nature has evolved. Everyone seems to lament the ultra meta farmers but evolving a play style naturally purely out of skill is heralded in the community. I was playing solo mostly and got into some public lobbies while I was leveling still towards the railgun. I had been running solo diff 5 bots since level 14 and around level 18 I got into a lobby and mentioned it when we were talking about strategies against the bots. I was NOT expecting people to react like I was some eldritch entity taking on solo bot missions and I realized I had legitimately valuable info to teach the lobby on how to handle the bots and beat them in large numbers. It was actually an insanely cool moment to have mid lobby and after sharing some of my tactics the entire lobby started shredding bots in our next mission. Iso was just too big a barrier for MANY people to bother trying, no matter that the game itself was AMAZING. Doing this is what gave them their shot at greatness. I knew that if they could land the rest of the core like they have previously that going 3rd or 1st person was gonna give them the opening for so many new players to try their type of awesome seat of the pants win game, and once they tried it, they would spread the word of the new messiah of gaming. Every drop is different, and has a unique "flavor" to it, and even when the odds were long, it felt like you always had a chance to pull victory out of the jaws of defeat. Playing that first game, I always imagined that if they could basically copy the game play mechanics out of the top-down twin-stick shooter and successfully paste it into a fully realized 3rd person shooter, the result would be incredible. And that's exactly what the devs delivered. The reason this game is so amazing is because YOU ARE THE HELLDIVER. It literally makes you feel like you are in this universe and a part of some greater struggle with all the other players. Watching the percentages go up and down on a planet makes you want to get in there to help your brothers at arms. On the discord everyone is memeing and creating a community even though you only see 3 other people at a time in the game. It's been a long while since we've had this type of game. It's no the first but it's the best in a long time.

the dirt, dust, smoke, lighting, and explosion effects help to make the game feel so cinematic. I heard someone say that this unserious comedic action game does a much better job at giving you a "war is hell" vibe than any call of duty (although call of duty is made in conjunction with the US military and they want to it look cool not scary) or other serious modern warfare shooter. part of it is the haze and dust kicked up by explosions and the hail of blaster fire when fighting the bots. Another part of it is how while you're an elite squad against the odds, you're not a 1-4 man army. you are expendable and respawns are reinforcements and canonically a new soldier, not the same one respawning. My favorite is turning on the random voice option while respawning so it feels like a new soldier every time you come back.
@TheCouch-Co-Op9 ай бұрын
The game is actually quite good looking. Does a good job blending so many different elements.
@OneBiasedOpinion9 ай бұрын
Oh, that actually makes sense for the random voice pack. I might have to do that now… I also love how, if you extract without the full squad, the ones who didn’t make it onto the Pelican are standing next to the platform doing victory poses as the survivors return. Because they didn’t fight, they just got defrosted on the Super Destroyer to fill out the decimated returning squad.

Remember no one is immune to propaganda. but learning history and using common sense rather than emotion can make you resistant.
@YurtleTheTurtle999 ай бұрын
In 1776 Thomas Paine published a pamphlet titled “Common Sense,” it was largely influential in swaying public opinion in favor American independence. Despite being regarded as one of history’s greatest political propagandists, Paine’s work has been viewed by historians as contradictory of propaganda because they introduce new perspectives not facts. In a way, common sense is the very essence of propaganda in that it assumes consensus of societal competence. The issue derives from the language. Common sense is based on personal experience and innately emotional; resistance is being true to oneself in protest of external influences. Facts don’t make you immune to propaganda and learning history only leads to a greater respect and animosity toward the French. In abstract, the smell of spring time..

My first actual dive after the intro mission was a normal level dive into the creek. That mission difficulty was ramped up to what felt to be somewhere around hard or impossible just minis the tanks showing up . For every dropships worth of bots you kill 2 more would appear nearby while a 3rd showed up off in the distance not far off. The sheer number of bots was enough to keep the entire squad running in random directions so we could never linked up. By the time i had joined up the mission was barely 10 minutes in and they were already down to the last 5 reinforcements. It was hell. I love this game

I don't know if you know this, but you mentioned that there are no differences with the armor, but if you look at the shop and press tab, it'll show differences in things like sprint recharge or armor strength. I am rocking a light outfit and I notice that I am much quicker than my friend who is in a beefy outfit. You can also see the armor stats in the Armory. Helmets don't affect anything though, just the body armor. Edit: I also just checked, and different armors have different passive abilities that allow you to throw farther or stim effect duration!

There’s a heavy armor on page 5 (I think?) of the free warbond which gives you a 50% chance to ignore death when you take lethal damage. There are several more that significantly reduce your recoil when crouched or prone, enabling you to lay down some truly withering MG fire with surprising accuracy.

Both times they didn't head my waring to run as soon as it was armed. I THINK Helldivers 2 could of been a better game if they focused on tight controls, more accurate shooting/explosion mechanics and better movement. I BELIEVE if it had movement like Darksouls / Elden Ring + plus what you see in Helldivers 2 - It could of been a monster game. I THINK the reason why everyone says Helldivers 2 is so difficult is because of the movement and controls are very cinematic and not tight and accurate therefore it creates this illusion where you feel like you're always out of time to make a decision.
