All AAA studios started as AA's that cared. That's why Xbox's studio buying spree of old tired game IP was a literal waste of money. The best games originate from AA's. Witcher series (AA studio) Subnautica (AA studio) Helldiver 2 (AA studio) etc etc. The best games come from studios hungry to make it to the big leagues.

@@brokeandtiredyour argument is like: All men are sons of a father, so all men are or will be fathers... thats not a valid argument, there are enough studios, that are AA Studios for a long long time ... and if Palworld, Baldurs Gate 3, Enshrouded, HD2 compared to for example Ubisoft Pirates game (shit, see, I even forgot its name).. that AAA is far away from being a succes, but instead connected to high risks nowadays

I was always a single player role game gamer (witcher, cyberpunk, tomb raider, tlou, ...). But Helldivers really get to me, maybe because when I play with friends it is similarly immersive. You are surrounded, call in a nuke and shout "For Democracy" into your mic and go out with a bang. Not to mention that the gameplay is super amazing, and i assume with the coming patches the game balance and stability will increase drastically. Also the whole concept of working with the community to a common goal is amazing.

I've recently gotten this game and it's so good. What you said cod zombies and coop really resonated with me. However, I actually had this moment some time ago with another game: Deep Rock Galactic. Similarly to Helldivers, it's a coop horde shooter with a dev team that actually cares about their game and the community and has their priorities straight. Plus other similarities like the big presence of friendly fire, the complete disregard of alien life and the heavy undertone of a dystopian future, although in this case corporate instead of fascist. I can honestly REALLY, EXTREMELY recommend it to people who like helldivers 2. It's absolutely not a replacement to helldivers, or necessarily better or worse, but it has those important similarities. On the contrary, because both games are so strong exactly where they differ (for example the strategems in HD2 and the weapon customization + overclocks in DRG), they complete eachother very well in my game library Hope my little rant proves useful :) For democracy, for liberty, for rock and stone, and for Karl!

Friendly fire and player collision are vital to any self-respecting multiplayer game. If the people you're playing with's presence can't be felt and experienced, then that's taking away from the social aspect of multiplayer games. It's important for the same reason pillow fights during sleepovers were fun as a kid. So many multiplayer games today choose to get rid of player collision and friendly fire, because they're afraid of people getting mad at their teammates. But here's the thing, they're gonna get mad at their teammates anyway, so you might as well give them the opportunity to make it known, rather than letting them build up their frustrations with no outlets other than chat verbal abuse, which is far worse. But it's not just important as a way to let players settle their beefs in the game, it also makes for good fun, and makes it far more likely for people to make friends (and enemies). But the point is it creates player interaction, which in turns creates a stronger bond to the game, since their friends and enemies they made in the game, are playing the game.

As someone who's gaming is also narratively driven, H2 has such a great tone, such brilliant world building, i am the story. I will sneak around the jungles of Malevalon Creek, I will traverse the rugged landscape of Angel's venture. Because the game makes me believe that what I do matters. The diagetic storytelling is remarkable. And then there are the fabulously tongue-in-cheek instances of flavour text. Arrowhead have crafted something truly remarkable.

To be fair to the Immortals of Aveum (which I just learned existed with this video) of the world, Helldivers isn't just fun, it's a meme, which even the best marketing teams can't replicate or predict, let alone EA's. I've seen a lot of fun games fail to gain any meaningful traction over the years, and a lot of crummy games get way more sales than they should in a just world (not just because of pedigree or name recognition, I have a few indie games that abused Early Access and got tons of money for broken promises in mind). This time, a good game is getting good sales.

All balance discussions, particularly relating to the shield backpack, have to wait until armor is fixed. When players gain some durability, and maybe a good chunk of durability with heavy armor options, that will move the ground under everything else' feet in a big way. Another point about the microtransactions is that the exchange for credits vs real money is incredibly reasonable. the highest you can pay is like 20 or so dollars and gives you way more credits then you're going to need and most importantly you still have to play the game to unlock stuff. You can't pay real money and just immediately get all the guns and armor so people who play regularly aren't screwed over. Unlike some other games where they let you spend literally 100 fucking dollars and still feel like you're not getting much due to how the premium currency works

Arc thrower is superior to the railgun to me, I can throw electricity up to about 55 meters and it chains through enemies with unlimited ammo, sounds like a good add clearer and not to mention it ignores armor so even heavier targets fall with some time spent on them. If anything kills you it is because there are too many enemies so clearing extras as a bonus to shooting something large is fantastic, just make sure to tell your allies to not be in front of you or if they do tell them to hit the floor so it doesn't target them as Arc weapons and turrets won't target prone players.

You can be 40 with or w/o a good gamer group and the game still kicks ass

@@MotoRide.true. but i guess i meant that innocent age before adulthood where all that matters is your bros playing some video games in that moment.

Unless Sony pressure Arrowhead I wouldn't worry about future of monetization. First Warbounds (battlepasses) don't expire. Second items in the shop are rotated on daily basis, so if player missed something he'll be able to buy it later. Personally I consider premium non-expiring battlepasses as DLC. If you want them you can buy them whenever you choose.
