I think the issue is this: She was offered 10k and turned it down, then was offered 5k on top of the 10k and she turned it down. Then time goes by and when they finally reach out again she was expecting a huge bag, and then only was offered 4k for a cameo. This is where she snapped I think. She went from "oh here we go, here comes the money. They need me." and was offered 4k for cameo.

Unfortunately, people overvalue themselves and feel like without them, the business will die. This is 95% not the case. Everyone is replaceable. Even I as a business owner who did all the physical work, when I sold my shares after a fallout, knew that the business would live on, and at some point it would be as if I was never there. She thought she was an important part of the game, that she couldn't be replaced, that her value to the franchise was above anyone else, and she was proven wrong, and it hurt her. That's why she's acting out. It's a sad reality that we all have to face, you quitting or getting fired is not going to impact things like you would think, just move on and create something for yourself and be your own boss, or find a place that makes you feel irreplaceable (that means management has created the illusion)

Then you look into instances like David Hayter but we can all that anecdotal. There's a lack of residuals and companies (especially Nintendo) are notorious for trying to get around union contracts. However, just to restate. I do agree VA's aren't some A lister. I love Steve Blume but his name on the box didn't make me buy Ace Combat.

@@rookt31893 To be tair if I was a company I too would be trying to get round Union Rates - it is stupidly overvaluing people that are very easily replaced. It’s very rare that the name is big enough or recognisable enough where the price they are asking is worth it. The lack of residuals is because the big companies can just hire someone else. Smaller companies will happily do those. If you want extra stuff work for the smaller companies that can’t replace you. There’s a reason why most actors that make a comfortable living nobody has ever heard of them.

When it comes to ease of replacing them, at the end of the day it's video games and voice acting doesn't have any impact on gameplay. That being said, when Cayde's voice actor got replaced it was noticed. When David Hayter got replaced it got noticed. Some of the people they brought in to replace the VAs for Fire Emblem were FOR SURE noticed. I'm wouldn't go as far as "easily" replaced depending on who it is. However that does go to your point of those cases being rare. When it comes to residuals, it's a standard other industries follow with paid voice talent and those industries seem okay working with unions. Thinking on it, I'm still of the mindset that the gaming industry still has leaps and bounds it can improve on when it comes to being fair to VA talent. (we won't even get started on how they treat development). Hellena Taylor over there pretty much shot that conversation in the foot by going full Karen.

As much as I love her voice for Bayonetta, she burnt the bridge herself. Thinking her being the voice of Bayonetta gave her a big head. It never occured to her that it's the designer that created the character, gave it personality, attitude, sassiness, ability, history and many others. The 3D animators gave it form, characteristics, movement and stride. Programmers gave it life. She's simply being selected by the directors and designers to fit the character, and she's only contributing less than 5% to the entire project. Any other voice actresses could've replaced her at any time.

did a little wiki research on bayonetta sales: first game sold around 2 mil (from the initial release to wiiU port), 2nd game sold a little more than 1 mil (which mainly come from sales on switch rerelease). so totalling at 3 mil now for both games, now let's time that with a 60$ price tag and we get 180 milion dollars. where did she get 450 million dollars?? is she not right in the head? clearly this is a crazy person getting way too much attention from the internet. well anyway, this is it for me, not gonna look for anything else from this "news". i hope everyone bothered by her claims can recover financially and mentally. she caused too much problem for other people, imagine being jennifer hale, smh.

Ya, I don't understand how she or anyone is claiming $15k for about 20 hours of work isn't a livable wage. Like, just do that 3 more times and you can live more than comfortably for the year (that's $60k), and that's only 80 hours of work, about 2 weeks worth for the average worker. I mean, she could probably even get by with just 2 gigs all year round. This makes me pretty angry. Especially when people act like she isn't paid enough or that she deserves a livable wage.

There aren't any holes in her story if you go back and listen to it. She simply plays a tricky omission game. She didn't outright lie, she lied by omission: she was telling the truth when she said the final offer was a flat $4,000. That WAS the final offer -- for a cameo. She left out the part about how she was originally offered $10,000, and then an extra $5,000. Pretty important context there.

Even if the original story of getting paid 4000 Kamalas for one job was true: - If I decided to boycott every single videogame that done something like this or worse, what would I play? What about Saudi Arabia beheading journalists and buying Nintendo stocks and entire companies like SNK?
