@@aranecek There are three components to any martial art training. I should know, I have practiced and instructed for about 50 years. HEMA is no different. The first one, improving your physical capabilities, does not require a partner, at all. Whether you are working on strength, balance, etc. almost every muscle can be trained, and almost every joint can be conditioned without a partner. The second, working on guards, cuts, lunges, and even forms, can be mostly done without a partner. I affix a couple of feders to my old kickboxing bags, and work my sword around them... or hit them if the technique requires it. The third component is of course sparring. That definitely requires a partner. Unfortunately, the closest club is a 45mn drive away, and I make it at most a couple of times a month. But... at 59, I am not going to do particularly well in a tournament ever again. So it is fine if my parring skills are lacking. My youngest daughter came a week before my 50th birthday, and that changed my plans quite a bit.

@@Tuidjy Well first of all saber or sword can have around 2 pounds or even less so no the swordsman does not have to be fit. Especially considering that normal fight would end in few seconds. Second of all - yes you can learn guards, lunges etc. but if you dont have dynamical response (partner) then you are going only to learn by to book. Meaning that once you go into a fight an opponent will do a combination you will never expect.

Well it is set in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and they did show old gameplay of the character exploring the world map similar to Mount and Blade (specifically With Fire and Sword). But yeah it'd be pretty awesome to be able to explore places and of course duel others, perhaps like in the Kengo games made by the same devs that made Bushido Blade
