Oh my goodness! I'm finally back with my first video this year! I took a few weeks off after the holidays to center myself and I'm so excited to connect with you all again. I always love starting out the new year with themes I want to embody. I'd love to hear your resolutions/themes you want to commit to in 2021. 💭

These self-development resolutions are seriously the best, your such an inspirational person for me as a 20 year old young woman :D Such an optimistic video, I love that! For me personnaly, my resolution is to grow as a person, I always tend to be super optimistic for everyone but myself, I want to stop doubting and hating myself ! Thank you again for your video, it kinda feels like you and your community are trying our best together and it gives so much energy

The mortality thing really hit me. I’ve always thought about my parent passing as a sort of nightmare, and I guess any other kid would have, but now that they getting older I have to face that is a reality, and I have to be prepared of that and wow I’m waaaay far from that, but anyway, I like that u bring up topics that (I think) are so relatable to our generation, and big conversations doesn’t always have to be about politics or something that is going to change the world, but those steps in our everyday life that nobody tells us how to confront and we all fell lost about them. Virtual hugs ❤️ 🥰

Honestly, seeing Jen interact so closely and healthily with her parents made me so incredibly happy. Not because of Covid, but in general. I think anyone who doesn’t have the best relationship with their parents can relate to this. I’m working intensively on my relationship with my mom. It’s never been bad, but I was always easily annoyed by her and I hate to admit that. But strangely enough, working on myself and the issues I’ve had since my childhood has brought me closer to my mom and I’m very thankful for that. I just got a little emotional seeing Jen with her dad. Her parents seem like great people :)

I have to admit.... I unfollowed you for a few years because I just didn’t find you genuine anymore and I felt like you were always chasing someone else and not you. But I started to watch your videos again this year and found that you’ve really grown and it’s really beautiful to see. I really admire the amount of self awareness you’ve displayed in this video and this past year... not many influencers/content creators have these qualities these days

I just read about optimism that the difference is that optimists think: "I'm going to make tomorrow better". I think you're an optimist by heart even if your head is more of a pessimist, because your journey of bettering yourself comes from believing you're capable of it.

Your 3rd 2021 goal hit me, I'm the same way - realist leaning towards pessimist. SO much energy spent thinking of the what if's and it's draining. Here's to trusting the process, letting go of anxieties, and cultivating more joy in 2021!

Maybe The Power Of Now is a helpful book for you. Instead of getting in your head about the possible future, try thinking: it's not in the future, all we have is now. And right now I'm working on this and everything is fine right now. It's like worrying about doing working when you are trying to sleep: You can't work when you are sleeping, so why bother worrying? Right now is all you have ☺️ I have been trying to implement this mindset in my life and it's very freeing (although I'm still learning)

Jenn, I’ve watched you since the beginning and am amazed of your journey of self reflection and growth. I feel like I’ve grown with you over the years as well, in particular our parallel growth of relationship with our Asian parents. I think it’s amazing how you’ve made an effort to get to where you are today: confident, eloquent, and independent. What is it like to be in a relationship and still develop such a solid sense of self? How do you balance your self growth journey along with growing with Ben?

I love the way you put it, the time traveling journaling allows you to do is one of the reasons i love it so much. It lets me relive the small happy memories that i wouldve otherwise forgotten about and I can also see the mindset i was in and how I've grown or regressed and what was helping me and what was stressing me. Its kind of like reading your own memoir, written in real time.

Your second resolution for 2021 made me cry because it was exactly what I needed to hear! This past year I have felt a bit ashamed of that intensity within me and you worded exactly what I am slowly figuring out... how to channel that into focused action instead of clumsy and awkward bursts of emotion. Thank you for sharing your personal journey on what has helped for you. Journaling has always been something that I’ve put on the back burner, buying more journals than actually writing in them. The same with meditation. Sharing your journey has definitely aided in lighting a fire under my ass about nurturing my own well-being. Thank you sweet friend. So much gratitude.

What you said about "being a realist" has resonated with me so much! I have also thought of myself in the same way and even when people said "you are being such a pessimist" i would always say " no i am just being realistic". Honestly, looking back I think I often was pessimistic and trying to find faults in things or protect myself and prepare for the worse. The preparing for the worst was really having an impact on me as I always waited for it to happen instead of enjoying life and the good moments. I hope for both of us that this year we can be a bit more optimistic !

I'm really really impressed with people who can consistently write journals and even if its not daily, at least weekly. I'm not a words kinda person, and I don't enjoy writing as much (though I do enjoy creating visual journals), and even when i kick start my bujo, it's consistent for a while and then i start to feel lazy and procrastinate. I think this year one of my resolutions would be to consistently write my journal, especially my bible reading journal. And its ok to not do it everyday but at least maintain the consistency and not beating myself for not being "hardworking" in a sense. Really enjoy just watching you being so happy and goal-oriented and on your feet, kinda inspires me (just that i needa work on my laziness, oh gosh). Thank you Jenn! Cheers to a better and fruitful 2021!😄🎉

But I know that finishing school is important especially to my parents, they've been really kind to me. I've decided to go back to school. I cry every morning and then get to it because finishing school is what is standing between me and my business. School is taking a chunk of my time. i have purpose now. This video is such a good reminder to live freely and positively despite all the uncertainties! It's so true we always assume the worst case scenario because we were probably taught that but isn't it nice to change our mindset and think that whatever challenges that may come our way....everything will eventually work out? Sometimes happiness come in small doses but if we always focus on the negatives we are just going to miss all those small moments of joy!

Like Jenn, i started to write diary(kind of journaling kk), meditation, yoga, digital-distancing at night( keep away the phone). You are my positive role model.😎🤜

This year is my year of SOULCARE. To really focus in on what gives me energy and continue questioning and challenging my unconscious bias from a place of compassion. Something you said about optimism reminded of something that's been bouncing around in my mind. I think being a "realist" is my way of protecting myself (like the armor you mentioned), and I think about all of these people I admire who do work everyday to change the world. I realized that they have the audacity of hope and the audacity to believe in humanity at its best. When the world is just piling on the drama and the chaos, am I willing to be SO bold that I operate in a different way? I'm sorry if I totally overshared and rambled a bit. Thanks for sharing your journey!

Jen, thank you for sharing your resolutions and what you have learned from them. I am currently trying to meditate and journal a lot more. I am currently writing about a trip I did last year before going on quarantine, I always wanted to write about my travels, and journaling has just help me and inspired me to write even if I’m not the best story teller. Wishing you an amazing year and can’t wait to see what this year has in store for you!!!

i also have a similar resolution as your last one! i'm always so anxious about the future and this year i want to let go and live lighter. i want to have fun in the process and not worry about when i'm going to reach a destination because there is always progress to go towards after each goal.

Hi Jenn, I'm 23 years old and have been watching your videos for quite some time now.. Just wanted to say, I loved everything about this video. Even though the year was so crazy for all of us, for you, I feel like, 2020 was the best year yet! Personally, I am so thankful for everything I've been taught through the happenings of last year. Obviously, I only know you from the internet but I am so happy for how calm and mature you've gotten over the years and how much more at peace and grounded you are now - it really shows! I especially love how you put more emphasis and effort in your relationship to your parents. I think it's a big step towards maturity to cherish your parents and show them your gratitude and love. God bless you! Love from Germany!

a lot of the topics u discussed in this video are symptoms of high-functioning anxiety, something I've struggled with for years now. the "doomsday" thinking, high heart rate due to impending deadlines, fearing uncertainty, etc. I'm really glad I watched this because now I know what kind of resolutions to focus on this year and hopefully it has a good impact on my mental health.

Around 5 years ago I had this weird feeling of mortality aswell and I deciced to gift my parents experiences and just book things and take them with me. And I treasure these moments a lot because now that my father has died, everything has changed. My mother has been very cruel to me in her pain and now these happy memories are like flowers in winter.
