My background is pulmonary medicine and you literally saved her life by taking her to the hospital. She experienced acute respiratory failure and it's great to hear she has survived. Legionnaires disease is relatively rare but it can cause severe pneumonitis. Give your mom a great big hug and dad too. ❤ Much love to you 😘 Appreciate today it's the only day that matters.

As a dad, I've always been concerned for your safety, particularly when your videos stop coming. It's great to see you're doing well. I'm very sorry for what happened to your mom but happy that she recovered. Your grace and spontaneity is refreshing. I know that van life is not for everyone but you make it highly exciting. You also talk of the difficulties, and I understand that. I, myself, couldn't live without a full bathroom and plenty of hot water. I always wondered if you, from time to time, would stay in a hotel to get that full bathroom experience. Wish you well, and that goes for your parents, too. Stay safe.

The majority of bloggers glorify van life for its magic moments, freedom and independence but I think whilst these are present there is also lots of loneliness, isolation and vulnerability. Ame, I’m glad you mum is on the road to recovery. Please do take care of YOURSELF, your well-being and ensure you address what has has been making you feel low and unhappy these past 6 months. Seeing your mum in the hospital bed reminded me of my mum dying of cancer last year, I stayed with until the very end. The hospital kept turning her oxygen down and didn't seem to care that she was choking or doing their job. I stayed with her for 3 weeks day and night to make sure that didn't happen. When she died I stopped caring about myself and my room was a complete pigsty. When a loved one gets sick you just stop caring about stuff and become numb. If people done their job properly none of you would have gone through this. I'm glad your mum is doing better and you're okay ❤

I'm so so so very sorry you all had to go through this, but I'm also grateful your mom pulled through and you get to continue having her as an integral part of your existence. My mom had a heart attack years back and we almost lost her so i know how you felt. You just feel so helpless and full of dread and like your whole reason for being is about to go away. I’m a clinical microbiologist and Legionnaire’s disease is very dangerous. Glad your mom is recovering. The Organism that causes Legionnaires disease is found in various water supply mainly air conditioning units. During COVID a lot of public buildings were closed. Then once they were reopened we saw a dramatic increase in patients with Legionnaires disease. The stagnant water supply in those buildings were a perfect breeding ground.

Isn't it just dangerous for people with less immunity? If you healthy you should just feel like having the flu pretty much. Isnt it the pneumonia that is the problem? As is with covid. As is with flu? Which often comes to light with reduced immunity if i am correct. Which can be blamed on stress and other factors causing a chain reaction? Can also get this from dirt. Or even a good looking fountain in the street. Sprinkler system in garden afaik.
@lorisykes252

@@Syphirioth If you have underlying health risk factors yes you have a higher chance of being hospitalized. The fatality rate is 25% for elderly and 10% for young and healthy. Since it is bacterial not viral it can cause more problems. Delay in treatment is what usually causes a higher fatality rate rather than immune status.

@@lorisykes252 Ye that what I know to. Bacterial pneumonias often the worst. Which kinda makes sense to me. Ye that fatality rate is only after getting the disease right? Not when inhaling the bacteria right? So only the ones that get realy sick are noticed and those give the fatality numbers?

Good to hear your Mother pulled through. In-van shower is essential. I have a camper trailer, and even that has its own shower--but the problem is carrying plenty of water. Great if one has access to a tap, but if not, I have to fill an auxiliary bladder using a battery operated pump, but a manual one would do for only fifty litres. through a bacterial filter, from a stream. Fifty litres is usually enough for a shower. It takes only about ten minutes,

Oh Ame! I’m 6:34 in and nearly in tears over your mom. I lost mine almost two years ago so I know the fear well. I’m so happy to hear she’s recovered and I will be praying for you and your parents!

So, so sorry about your mom. I feel your pain. My mom went to the hospital in Las Vegas for a blood clot in her leg and was felled by sepsis while laid up. In a supposedly clean environment. It took her two years to recover, thanks in no small part to the extraordinary care she received at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. Blessings to your mom. I hope she graces your life for many, many years to come.

I'm sorry, my love, that you're going through a bit of a time, but you're doing the right thing. You're keepin on, keepin on. I love that you're not glaming the van life. You're such a beautiful woman, I love your humour, and I love your beautiful eyes. You're a true survivor. We love you so much.🌹💋❤️

Ami - I’m glad to hear you and your mom are getting better ….i used to be a trk driver here in the states. I took showers in truck stop showers and rule #1….ALWAYS wear flip flops in public showers -never touch the walls with any parts of your body …no matter how clean it may look or smell ….u must always protect yourself in these situations. Lesson learned. Downside to living on the road. I get it. Again …glad u guys are OK!! 😊

Glad your mom has pulled through, can't wait to see what your channel has in store, you've matured your editing style so much, you could decide to take your channel in any direction and be successful on your charisma, just don't force anything and don't burn out!

Jeez, THATS So bad what happened to you guys especially your mum being so ill! Top tip ALWAYS Wear FLIP FLOPS the cheap Rubber kind the whole time youre in Public showers!! It'll stave off most of the things you can catch from floor/standing dirty water to a point etc, especially if you also wash your hands after you've left before eating or touching anything.. sounds OCD But its not as tou now know you have to be! (Legionaires probably not but everything else!) SAME GOES FOR VAN WATER SYSTEM! If youre not using shower lately in van, fill thw water with bleach solution, let it sit dor coulem hours then flushnit through amd soak the shower hose amd head in bleech. Anywhere theres stagnant water for more than a few days, legionnaires can breed! (Fact the showers were luke warm was a bad sign, thats where it and others germs flourish best! Was like breeding in water supply pipes and drains/tanks most likely) - ** Ok so now (ALL) go BUY THE CHEAP rubber flipflops (for in public showers ok!!) And flush out BOTH van's water systems with strong disinfectant just incase!** 😉 Best wishes from London 💪🇬🇧
