Beautiful review of Speyside. So incredibly personal and descriptive. You are so very right. You have to savour the moment!!!!! This isn't a rehearsal. We only have one chance to savour the memories. You may try to recreate them but they will always differ so enjoy each memory and moment as each one is a treasure. Quite superb Erik.

Very helpful information on the tours--this can save a lot of time for visitors who have limited time to visit distilleries--Thank you so much Eric! Also, great advice on taking your time and spending time talking and taking it all in. When you come to Osaka, Japan, let me know and, if we can work it out, I'd be happy to help you get around this area.

Great to hear about your adventures and are having a blast, got a couple of ideas from your experiences which I'll put into practice when I'm up in Speyside next month. I'll probably hang off from getting those piercings and tattoos till after your back in the States though! Take care Erik!

Great post, Erik! Interesting to hear your take on Tomatin and Aberlour tours. I have had good experiences there. I think who the guide is makes all the difference. I guess the regular guides (with all the good stories) needs vacation too and thus sometimes you get a summer intern/substitute instead. It just means that we need to visit all distilleries not only once but several times :-D . I have visited GlenDronach twice but I never heard of Huntly Castle! Definately something to check out the next time I am passing by ;)

Very cool feedback Erik, will be curious to hear your longer reports around bottles you picked & experiences ...I'm happy you liked the GLEN MORAY 2010 Peated PX CS that was one of my Top Whiskies of the Year 2018...I tasted a similar cask offer at 6 yo (instead of the 8) & it was already stunning (but they didn't bottle it) I believe if Graham can find casks that are close to this 2010 profile it could be even greater at 10 or 12 yo...we'll see...Liked the feedback about the tours as well, they can vary dramatically indeed....I talked about that in my Scottish report (don't know if you read) & I had only 1/6 distilleries bad welcome tour which isn't so bad at the end of the day....Hope your Scottish journey will finish with a blast or two ! Take care ! PS : Great & wise statements up to the end of the video, Erik I subscribe 100 % to it...

Good trip, Erik! You recorded with an iPhone? The thing that I don't like about iPhones is that they record sound at a low level. I had to turn the volume *way* up in order to hear you... Then the music at the very end was so loud that I was catapulted out of my chair hunting for the volume control to bring it down real fast so it wouldn't bother the neighbors... When you're in post production, please make sure the volume levels of every part of the video are about even. That way, the neighbors won't be bothered and I won't blow out any speakers... Other than that, this was a fabulous account of your travels!

Maybe mentioning your dissatisfaction to the "punk" at Aberlour would've been a bit classier than calling her out and shaming her on KZbin/social media. Since you didn't want to be a jerk. Anyway, when are you getting a tattoo? 😉

Malt Chronicles - If a restaurant, winery or distillery offers poor product or service sharing one's bad experience about the product or service isn't "shaming" them. Waiters, sommeliers, winery and distillery tour guides are ambassadors for whom they represent. I could have included her last name (I didn't), I could write a formal complaint to her employer (I didn't) and I could have called her out for her errors on rather basic facts about production in front of all the other guests (I didn't). In this video I compared two experiences, both from distilleries from the same parent company both of which had tour guides with tattoos etc. The one at Aberlour had a bad attitude and was conveying misinformation and the other was extremely knowledgeable and a fantastic host.

@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies @Erik Wait Respectfully, I disagree. This is public shaming of an individual. Whenever I feel service or a product is lacking, I try to have a word with the person or the staff responsible to make sure I get what I paid for ánd the company gets valuable and constructive feedback. In no way will your very personal ad hominem KZbin rant improve the tour at Aberlour or give the people there an honest chance to correct your bad experience. You've also chosen the largest audience available to you for this criticism. I think it is wholly unnecessary. Furthermore, from TripAdvisor it becomes really clear who the girl is. She's mentioned all the time. Very good reviews on her there by the way. Maybe she didn't have her period on all those other occasions.
