Heya Duzer--I've watched every video in this series--started when you started and watched in chronological order as you made them... until you took that hiatus. After a few months (finishing today) I watched the episodes in /reverse/ order going backwards through time, landing lastly on /this/ episode. It's the perfect place to end the follow-along on your journey, because you expressed the verklemfed feelings that permeate the /whole/ of this series. Congrats on completing your goal of traversing the USA with your sweetheart by your side. May you have many many more adventures together... and I'm very curious to hear Ali's answer to Dante's question. ;) Please keep me informed. Love to you! Molly

Ryan, man, you make me cry! I'm like you. When it comes to people, places and things. I get emotional too! You nailed it when you mentioned all the different walks of life one encounters while bike touring! Recently I met a special person when I went on a long bike tour. His name is Jim. A pleasant, older man. We hit it off as soon as we exchanged hellos. He is one of those that have tons of life stories and he shared those stories with me. After talking with Jim, my wife and I ordered a couple carry-out breakfasts at a nearby eatery. Lo and behold, the restaurant gave us an extra breakfast. I gave it to Jim. He loved it! What a moment in my life. To share and care for my new friend Jim! That is one of the biggest reasons why I love bike touring; the people I meet, and all of God's beautiful creation I experience and discover! Oh, and I love all the lil towns I pass through. Many of them beam me into yester-year! Sincerely, Frado 😁

Yaaah Ryan! I watched the whole thing :-) ...still in the Flatlands but you got my interest! I was very pleased to see you guys eating mulberries because it reminded me of my upbringing in eastern Pennsylvania where we had a mulberry tree. My siblings and I would climb the tree and sit in it for hours eating mulberries. I forgot all about them until seeing them in your video. It's something else... how something so simple like that can be shown for a moment in your video, but bring back such wonderful memories! The next notable thing in your video was the transition from the wind turbine blade to the blade of corn. I'm not sure if you did this intentionally as part of your artistic ability, but it worked well and made me think in terms of blades! Obviously there are many Blades of corn growing across Nebraska and Iowa. It was also quite entertaining to see your long dramatic and emotional outpouring when separating from your visiting friends from Colorado :-) It's interesting we have all these Dimensions to our emotions and it's no surprise that when we exert ourselves to the degree you are, in riding across America, you can have such an outpouring, because it's the act of breathing life into us from a long exerting feat such as riding across America and raising our awareness about the people and things that surround us that drive us to such emotion.
@duzer6 жыл бұрын
The Mulberries were so yummy! And yes on the emotions while exerting ourselves, I always get a little tender when I'm outside, pushing my body and mind to new places...I LOVE IT! Thanks for taking the time to watch the video, and share your words.

i noticed when you was in ragbri (i think that's what you said) you did not have your bikes and was walking around. Where were your bikes? What do you use for security or locks when your out touring and need to shower and your the only one? Do you just leave your bike unattended in your tent or what do you do? I could use some pointers :) Maybe i am being a little cautious but its something you must of mastered by now.
@duzer6 жыл бұрын
We left our bikes at someone's house...and it sounds crazy, but I don't bring a lock on tours, I havent had any problems, but I guess it's a little risky. We usually camp in the middle of nowhere, so there's not much risk. Hope this helps

I just found your channel and have binge watched all your ride across America (until waaaay too late). I love what you are doing and the spirit in which you are doing it! I usually stay away from giving advice to folks doing more than I ever did, but it pains me to see Ali's bike adjustment and hear her complain about sore knees. Her seat is too high - she is having to stretch to the pedal. It shows in how her back flexes with each stroke and in how her foot is in front of her knee when the pedal is midway down and front. Just lower the seat an inch (maybe less) and maybe move it forward a bit. Maybe it will help - if not put it back. Shorter crank arms might help, but that is a harder change to make.
@duzer6 жыл бұрын
Hello my new friend! Sorry to keep you up so late at night...but I'm glad you're liking the videos. We've had a lot of feedback on Ali's seat height...we actually had a pro bike fit done in Boulder before we left, and that's where they put it...I was questioning it too...when her knees starting hurting, we lowered it..but it made things worse so we put it back in the original spot...never thought of the crank arms..hmmm. Anyway, thanks for reaching out and stay tuned for more!
