This and Disney Dreamlight Valley are the ONLY games I am okay with their fetch quests and I think it's because of how much you have to unlock and progress. So it ends up making the gameplay loop fun for me. Excellent review 💜

I agree, $40/$60 is a big price for this game. I'm fully convinced it's that price bc it's Sanrio which is a very large and beloved IP. I would have been more happy if the standard was 30 and deluxe was 40 I played for 2 hours and have basically run out of content of the day unless I use the deluxe items to progress further but this just seems like 2 hrs of gameplay daily. It has the core mechanics of a live service game, there's just no iap or gacha mechanic to it. The gameplay is very much of a fetch questy game, can't really say it's as satisfactory as launch DDV though I have heard they want to add all the sanrio villagers into the game so I'm looking forward to that as there are a lot of amazing designed characters who aren't as beloved as HK, My Melody, Cinnamonroll, etcera Playing on the steam deck, there are frame drop rates, villagers clipping into things or each other / villagers having their back turned while talking to you. I lowkey feel like it's going to be a DDV/Sun Haven where they bring out content updates/dlcs but don't fix the bugs the game has. There's no game breaking bugs yet though. The only type of mobile games I play are gacha open world/turn based (Genshin, Star Rail, ZZZ, Wuwa, Infinity Nikki) and they have 30-50 hours at launch before each update is like 5-10 hrs of content. HKIA, I'm 2 hrs in and basically locked until tomorrow. This just reminds me of Cozy Grove but overall not a fan of the format of a live service game with no iaps because most I've played are somewhat worse than actual live service games in terms of how much you can actually play and the quality of it

I really enjoyed this game when it first came out on mobile, but felt like I ran out of things to do pretty quickly. I’m curious to see what the planned updates are going to be like.

I would suggest not buying it before seeing whatever update they do because I was in the same boat as you but didn't do my research before buying it on switch and just assumed there would be some (at least minor) differences and its really the exact same game. You have no control over the visuals like in animal crossing how you can pan up or down. And the resources and friendships are also the exact same. You'd probably get bored the same as on the mobile

I actually kinda love games that only allow you to do so much on a single day they're my favorite games to play before bed because I'm forced to stop after a certain point but 40 bucks seems soooo ridiculous and if it's anything like DDV I don't see it going on sale anytime soon if at all which is really disheartening - I'm so undecided on this one

Very useful video thank you. I was wondering about this one. It looks super cute but don't want another Fae Farm or DDV (fetch quest burnout!). The price seems high. So think I'll work on my backlog a bit and then see.

i played it some on mobile and it’ll be a long time before i pick it up on the switch and only if it’s on major sale. it got kinda grindy and the comments the devs were making on their discord about wanting to create a social social status for players who have played longer left a real sour taste in my mouth.

I am personally much happier with this game's price point as compared to Disney Dreamlight Valley's. I could only bring myself to buy that game while it was on sale. Also, compared to something like animal crossing: new horizons, at the moment, I feel it has as much to do daily as that did. However, my opinion may change when we see how this game holds up over time and what the additions/updates to it will be.

Both games are the same price ($40 on nintendo). Does this one offer more content or is it just your preferred game and therefore feels more worth the price? I was thinking about getting it and I really like ddv, so I'd like to know :)

I played 1000+ hours. Most cool furniture come from the events. So just keep playing as we get a new seasonal event about every month.

I can assure you that the price is SO worth it. Even you have to pay for more regions and characters later through DLC. On Apple Arcade I paid over $125 over the course of 1.5 years. So $40 ou even $60 for the DLC is a great deal. And to be honest it’s more a console game that was made for Apple Arcade first and later available on other platforms than a typical mobile game.

Maybe I’m just used to Nintendo being Nintendo with their rough prices but $30 was not that bad to me since I normally have to pay $60 or so with most of my games and some are definitely not worth that much but I’m just used to the inflated prices😭

I was a mobile gamer and eventually got bored with it because it was so repetitive and cute furniture needed SO MUCH materials and the friendships level up extremely slowly after the first 5 or so levels. However I assumed the switch version would've have been slightly different or have added or easier controls and it does NOT. I definitely feel like o wasted my money as it's exactly the same as the mobile. I get frustrated not even being able to control the screen view like in animal crossing you can at least look up or down a little but with this game you can't and sometimes you can't even see the hidden objects you're supposed to find. I really wish, for 40 or 60 dollars they would've upgraded the game at least a little for the switch but it's still same the same cute but boring game because it's so slow.

I've been a fan of hello kitty games since Party Pals for the gba. I was pretty hyped when I found out this was coming to consoles until I found out it was a real time game. I never liked Animal Crossing until I discovered that you could "time travel" and then suddenly it's actually enjoyable. And for the price (!!! wow) this is a hard pass for me. I'll just play Big City Dreams if I need my Hello Kitty fix.

A little bit; but it has alot more quests and definitely more open world exploration. There is less of a focus on furniture.

Removed it from my Steam's playlist after watching your review and Josh's review. I was just hoping for an Animal Crossing "clone", not a fetch quest + grind fest (2 things I hate, hence why I don't like most RPGs either)

Every game is not perfect, especially on the switch It's a little console. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ If every game was Perfect don't you think they're wouldn't be updates? And every game is not perfect when it first comes out, I swear gamers expect too much, 🙄

I got it on release and love it.its so fun. I play it ,acnh and dreamlight valley every day. I love the grind too.
