Thanks for the 'shout out' Mathew. A very watchable video with plenty of information for Phrag growers so the next time you meet him thank him for letting the viewers into his greenhouse..........and your interviewing was remarkable. I also use dolomite lime but I only sprinkle a little on top of the medium.....I'll try and spray the next time I feed and see if there is any movement in the plants growths. Hope all is well with you Mathew......take care and enjoy your weekend, Ed.

'Not the easiest to start with' Great! We had our annual show here in Vienna 14 days ago. Guess what... bought a Phrag. besseae, in flower, second bud is growing. So your video and your visit to Michael came just in time. Thanks to you both and many regards!

Thank you for a very interesting video together with Michael. I look forward to Fridays! It highlights for myself the need to be aware of the conditions of species orchids in the wild.

First Comment! Turning on notifications is really great! Will focus on the video right now hehe Edit: I find this quite informative and enjoyable! Unfortunately though, Phragmepediums aren't common here in our country since I think the climate here is not really for Phragmepediums. And for me, I think I'm not that patient for phragmepediums! I really like the red and orange varieties! Thank you for taking us with you, Matthew! Happy growing! 💚

thanks mathew. I have also found you can give orchids far more light than most normally would. Only if one wanted to house different ones together for example. The one thing the lower light orchids cannot handle well is the heat of the sun, otherwise more light generally produces more growth. Good video.

What an enjoyable discussion of phrags. Thank you both for explaining so well. I wish I had known this about this genera before I killed my one and only. Time to begin again, but where can I find a pot like the one you showed? Also, Matthew, thank you for showing Fahrenheit readings. It helps this American a lot!💜💚💖

Thanks for watching! I think his suggestion was ANY hybrid would be an easier first start for a beginner! And he does mention the more cool tolerant options in the video.

we have really hard water where I live and I've had to resort to tap water this winter as I only have a bit of rainwater left from the fall. I'll go back to rainwater in the spring. Wondering if adding dolomite-lime would be overkill for me?
@helloplantlovers8 ай бұрын
Hmmm....not sure! The lime is about maintaining the PH level of the soil...so it would depend what your tap water PH is? Not my area of expertise I'm afraid!
@lilyflower58959 ай бұрын
I wonder whether I can mix a regular potting mix (soil) with bark and leca for these guys to preserve moisture. Perhaps even adding perlite for extra air pockets.
@helloplantlovers9 ай бұрын
Hi there - I wouldn't be adding regular potting mix - unfortunately you just have to water them often!

Can u give the hydrangea “pinker” to other orchids?

Only to ones that want that PH level. So none of my other orchids will get it.
