We took a 3 day rock hounding trip up to the Burro Creek area in Arizona with the Quartzite rock club. I was led by a wonderful man named Alva. One of the things we went for was that brown conglomerate slab that you bought. He is the one that found the deposit and I am sure that it came from a trip with the club. Some of the samples have a lot of drusy pockets in them. One of my wife's favorites.

Omgosh! You and Sarah, should have a case for real!! You are so organized with your thumbnail and micro specimens with their pictures you took from your microscope especially the multi color zialites picture you took is one of the most beautifully captured with your microscope and camera. In fact i showed a few of my family members like my twin who is a professional photographer, who was very impressed with that photo. It literally got her to fallow your channel! She is also a rockhound because, of me! It would be pretty awesome to see the best of your best finds ever from Washington and surrounding areas..

Had to hit pause and comment...that display case @5:25 with all the square jaspers and the little table and chairs is A BADASS case!...omg the details and colors in those are just mind bending! 2.00 each for those Montanas??..25.00 for 10lbs?...oh my goodness ur killing me...that green slab at the end looks like bloodstone, and the second one possibly Marston jasper? #Hells Canyon I'd just like to have the template!

That was an awesome show! #HellsCanyon They had some screaming deals there! Those montana slabs were awesome. Those agates are really hard and the chew up saw blades pretty fast, and they take so long to cut, its worth more in the labor cost alone, then the $2 price tag! And those big slabs were really gorgeous and worth more than $1 per slab! And i was blown away at the $2 per cab at that one booth! Thats incredible! The time and materials that involved with making a cabochon, is worth well over the $2 she is selling them for. Even if she did get them from a close out deal or estate sale! Thats just incredible! That may have been a small show, but it looked like it had some great stuff, good prices, and thats what you want, right? And those display cases were awesome! That one with the pictures of picture jasper, and the table and chairs made of rock, was really just done so beautifully! and that huge garnet from that first case you guys were at, is amazing! it was the size of a softball. Now thats amazing! Totally cool and thanks for taking us along! And running into Jeremiah and Patrick was cool!

Hi Jared, I found it interesting that you described the show as a small one. Here in a Australia it would be considered to be a pretty goo$ sized show. While our land mass is only slightly smaller than America, our population is about one tenth the size of America’s. A lot of our shows are quite a bit smaller than the one you showed. Some great specimens & some good deals at the show. 👍 Keep Safe & Keep Rockin.
@CurrentlyRockhounding2 жыл бұрын
Also from what little I know about Australia, pretty much everyone lives on the coast for the most which much make it feel smaller. Some of the really big shows out here take like 6+ hours to walk around at and this one took about 1.5hours.

Great price on the templates, but there's one missing. It is red in color and has a lot of heart shapes. I think I show the set of three in one of my early videos. I think I paid $15 years ago for the set of three, so $2 each is a really good price. How can you go to a show with such good prices and only spend $12? I probably would have spend closer to $100 or more based on your video. One of those Montana slabs looked like it might have been close to Iris if it had been cut thinner. Thanks again for sharing your adventure.

Thanks for bringing the #HellsCanyon show to all of us. Definitely will try to have it on our calendar next year. Some of the cases were amazing. Probably feel the same as RagnarRocks. If you do put one together, please make a video about the process. If not, maybe it is a SNS topic along the lines of what should a case do for the viewer. IMO it should leave the person who looks at it with something to take with them. Some educational bit, something that inspires them to try a new technique, something that directs their attention to an interesting part of the hobby. In other words, there should be (1) a reason for putting the case together and (2) some labeling or description to give the observer more than just the feeling of someone showcasing a few pretty rocks. I guess I feel that the case should tell a story and motivate me in some way. Otherwise I will likely walk away with the thought of what was the point here? Anyway, please keep up your great content.
@CurrentlyRockhounding2 жыл бұрын
That's a really good topic "what makes for a good show case", I think I will talk about that on the up coming SNS! Thank you for that. I very much so agree with your assessment here. Cases need to have a purpose.
