I love the series for depicting the many different ways to show strength. From being true to your emotions, to the determination towards your desires including the desire to live, to breaking old habits and your “conditioning,” it defines strength further than big muscles or enormous power. Just finished this last friday. I completely agree with this and I love the "middle ground" aspect like achieving a state of tranquility and calmness with yourself and your situation. Like no matter what you are going through or what is happening to you, remaining at peace with yourself, and all the vulnerabilities and aspects of yourself, and simply pushing forward and being at peace with it is what makes you strong. This is probably one of my favorite interpretations of strength in shonen if not just ever.

Banger video, love to see jigokuraku analysis finally. I think in addition to the meaning of strength the series also does a good job discussing the meaning of immortality. From the actual physical eternal life elixar the cast is seeking, to nurugai living on for the sake of her clan and tamiya's goal to do great deeds that will cement his legacy, it offers several different perspectives.

Looking back at the series, besides maybe Gabimaru, Sagiri was the only one in the landing party to fully master Tao. Man and woman. Logic and emotion. Strength and weakness. All polar opposites that she melded in to one to become someone that even Gabimaru said was stronger than him. The perfect Yin-Yang that is represented by her. One of the best female characters in recent man.

When seeking to strengthen the body, One must fortify the most important muscle: the Mind. It's the Mind that makes the Body persevere when the training becomes difficult. For where the Mind goes, the Body will follow. If one has already decided on course of action, then the Body will move in accordane to the Mind's decision. But to know how what areas of the Mind need to be strengthened One must master the Soul/Spirit/Self. But One must first identify the Soul its entirety. The "entirety" part is paramount. To deny any aspect of One's Self, is to deny the Self, as again we exist in this world with our entire Being all at once Only after the acknowledgement & acceptance of our shortcomings and healing of trauma, can we begin this process. Identify➡️ Acknowledgement ➡️ Acceptance ➡️Knowing➡️ Mastery. We can't possibly hope to master what we don't know. We don't know everything, even about ourselves. Once we know where our shortcomings are can we begin to work on them. But if One doesn't acknowledge something then it remains in the Ether, and the will never become a reality. Which means a fully realized version of One's Self will remain in the Ether to never become reality. And all of this is predicated upon the identifying of Self. And this is all based upon a single question humanity has been asking since the beginning: "Who Am I, & What Is My Purpose?" *EDIT: I just t remembered that Todo's quote that helped form my comment came from JJK, coincidentally another series making up a third of the "Dark Trio".

One thing I love about Sagiri is that the author doesn’t try to make her masculine. SHE thinks she has to be more like a man at first, but later accepts that there’s strength in femininity, and that’s a desirable strength. It has the same value. Now I just wish Hollywood and academia and the rest of our current culture would catch on to this truth. If I wanted female characters to just be men, I would rather just have male characters and be done with it. This is precisely why I lost interest so quickly in the Avator Korra story. She was just a dude. She had zero feminine power, and it was insulting. I’m tired of the “boss girl” nonsense, I want to see more characters like Sagiri.

Of course, I need to make connections to Bleach. Gabimaru zabimaru Gabimaru only wanted to protect her and her innocence. She made him better. Which feels very much like "The Blade is Me" Sagiri sword reveals the true nature of a person. Ichigo can FEEL others when fighting, he knew with tensa zangetsu, and then when he caught Aizen.
