And Alucard killed every last one of the souls again until there was only him. Pretty sure while it's a one piece joke they ended on, and fitting at that, the joke is a reference to Naruto.

"Dracula's Wife" is a reference to how adaptations of Bram Stoker's Dracula almost always try and set up some kind of BS love triangle involving Dracula and Mina Harker. The novel has Mina Harker part way into her vampiric transformation before being saved from it by the destruction of Dracula, and the non-abridged just says the bones of Mina Harker were used, leaving the opening for the abridged to rip on all other adaptations. It was a manga first and I don't think it explains more than the OVAs do. Basically the Major in the original was the embodiment of the "perfect enemy" Alucard wanted. He was human to the fault and vehemently refused to become a monster yet he was aging quick so he transplanted his brain into a robot body and you know the rest. So just as Alucard wanted, he kinda got beaten by a "human". As for how they managed to build a cyborg with somewhere between the 40s to the 90s level of technology? Who knows? Given how in WW2 Nazis apparently could mess with the biology of superhuman creatures, a cyborg is probably far from the greatest accomplishment of their BS science. It does kinda come out of the left field, though. So TFS has all rights to make fun of it.

The reason the Major was a cyborg was because he needed to extend his lifespan beyond a normal human, but he absolutely refused undeath (turning into a vampire) since he wanted to remain a human, since as Alucard puts it "Only a human can defeat a monster, only a human could dare hope to"

I know in the original the Major was a cyborg because he refused to die until he saw Alucard dead, BUT he also refused to become a vampire, so he became reliant on technology to keep him alive and his best effort only put Alucard down for 30 years, for an immortal that's like a day. the original show aried while the manga was being made, so they had to split the plot of the show since the villain (nazis) wasent introduced in the manga at that point, meaning that the plot is totaly diffrent. Late to the party, but in case you didn't get how the Major's plan worked, Alucard vanished because he gained the powers of Shroedinger's Cat, thus becoming neither alive or dead while unobserved, except as there were two souls involved now, he was in a state of constantly observing himself, whereupon the universe had to decide "is he alive or is he dead", and the coin flipped to "dead". As the major said: he literally called heads. There was a 50% chance nothing would happen, and he got lucky. Then, Alucard, in some sort of semi-extant state, purged all the souls within him, allowing him to identify Shroedinger's soul and purge it too, losing Shroedinger's power and thus regaining his original life, which the major didn't realize was possible.

the major refused to live forever as a vampire. he would not want to become a monster but to die as a man. apparently it was ok to become a cyborg also he never killed Schrodinger in the real story. He kept the powers of Schrodinger once he and Schrodinger were the only souls remaining. he could identify himself and then appear anywhere he wanted. personally i like to think that from the very beginning Schrodinger cat WAS Alucard since time and space did not matter to him at all, there by making the perfect paradox. since he himself would become Schrodinger he could also go back to when Schrodinger was alive.

No, he did not sort out Schrodingers issues. He still had the Schrodinger powers, remember? Alucard: "Bitch I'm everywhere... yet nowhere." Essentially what happened is that he had to be able to observe himself in order to make him "alive", however his #LifeHack prevented that as anytime anything tired to interact with his soul, someone else would get used up. The reason why he didn't have to expulse Schrodinger himself is simple. Schrodinger can only disappear and thus use his revival powers only if nobody is observing him. As the Major said "To consume a thing, is to know a thing" thus Schrodinger is eternally being observed by Alucard and thus eternally dead and cannot alter his state. So... all the #LifeHack souls are expulsed, Alucard is left with only 2. Schrodinger's and his own. Schrodingers soul mirrors Alucards, if Alucards soul is lost, so is Schrodingers. If Draculas soul is the only one left, then that's the one he'll find rather than Schrodingers. Solving his own issues, facing himself and solving his own issues allows him to control Schrodingers powers and thus he becomes Michael McDoesntexist.

Basically what the Major did was the infinite parallel maze from Gurren Lagann that shows the infinite number of possibilities and what could have been, times nearly 4 million(The number of souls he ate via blood.). And in the original he had to kill each and every last soul besides his own... Also Walter wanted to grant Alucard the death he wanted all that time. However Alucard wouldn't allow a monster like himself to do it. And the Major nearly became the same kind of monster as Alucard/Dracula. By dying surrounded by the blood of thousands, he Would have absorbed them and become a monster... However he Refused to let himself become a monster that was anything other then himself. He became a monster that was still human in his mind/soul... Therefore it Was a human(technically) that would have killed Alucard, if he wouldn't have realized he just needed to kill All of those souls.

The Major was a cyborg because he had the chance to drink the blood after being shot by Russians and left for dead, thereby becoming a vampire, but he refused it in order to remain human. The doctor then replaced the limbs and organs that were destroyed, and continued to do so as he got older and other parts failed. This was in the anime, but it took me a few times watching it to pick it all up. In the original, it's a bit of a joke that he has horrible aim and can never hit anything. I'm talking from 5 ft away he completely misses every shot at a guy, and everyone wonders how he became a major in the war with such legendary bad aim. The only time he finally hits something (Integra's eye) he dies right after. His last words are "Ha! I finally hit something!"

One of the best 'But why is he a Cybrorg' explanations I've ever seen was in a Hellsing fanfic called Walpurgisnacht Eternal, where the Major was the creation of yet another of Dok's experiments. The explanation needs the whole context to make sense, but suffice it to say that is good enough that it established several new headcanons for me; particularly about Nazi's and advanced Cybercircuitry.

Hellsing was a Manga 1st. One that had a premature TV Anime adaptation so early that I don't think it was even enough for half of the tv Anime so they made up their own stuff. Which was bad. This abridged series is based on the later OVA adaptation of the completed Manga. & that one was amazing. The Manga actually got me to read Bram Stocker's Dracula so that was a pretty interesting trip through this franchise

One of the many MANY thing that made this so amazing was the music selection. The theme from the finale trailer and when al the blood is being absorbed is amazing. Not sure if it’s from the original soundtrack or something made for the abridged version. It's the bazilionth time I watch this, more if we count reactors, but this is the first time I realize that Alucard is the final boss. Millennium went through all the plans on top of plans, mind games and manipulations just to bring him down, and in the end it was temporary. All of that sounds like the lore of some D&D campaign, this "three armies fought together to seal this ultimate evil" kind of schtick.

Why was he a cyborg: He refused to not accomplish his mission assigned to him himself. The mission was to kill Alucard. He was arguably worse than the Nazi's. He was a Nazi just to use them to kill Alucard, he didn't care what they believed in. His thought process probably was along the lines of: Use whoever I can to kill Alucard (Nazi's are pretty lenient on the morals and manipulable) >> That fixes manpower, but need a magic bullet for Alucard. Oh hey look, Schrodinger. >> We lost all the manpower and industrial power that we had during the war, it will take time to rebuild with the people I have >> We could gather more or make the group I have last longer, vampires it is (But I'm doing this to kill vampires, don't worry I'll kill them too) >> I need to last long enough, well I don't want to be a vampire and I don't want to be vampire food, I guess robot it is. I might lose my humanity... Wrong, I do this because I am a human who persists in any form to kill monsters. (Ironic, as Alucard is a monster killing monsters that he has turned himself into just to kill and basically usurp his place).

Schrodinger's cat, if I'm not mistaken, is a physics dilemma. In the quantum (or if you want to go simpler electrons) you don't know where or what the object is doing until you observe it it's a sort of derivative of the Planck theory, I think. Basically Schrodinger purposed a cat in a box with a vial of whatever can kill the cat, commonly it's poison or radiation, the cat is sealed. Now the vial is set to randomly break open, but since the box is sealed you don't know if the cat is alive or dead. Until you open the box and observe the status of the cat the cat is both alive and dead at the same time.

The Major was a cyborg, according to the anime, because he got ripped to shreds by bullets at the end of WWII, refused vampirism from the abundance of blood creeping towards his riddled body, and Herr Doctor made it to him and, presumably, could only sustain his "humanity" by removing his fleshy components.
