Also the "Suck it Rosalia" is a callback to episode 4, where Kirito killed this Rosalia character by cutting her slightly and she died saying "This is the deepest you'll ever be in a woman". This series has a lot of big brain callbacks like those lol

The "strategy battle" of abridged's Kirito is the actual one, except when he's about to win in the show, Heathcliff somehow moves at superspeed and wins instead, because you know, admin defensive cheat

People really think being an admin of a game automatically makes you unbeatable but that's only if they're absolute assholes who completely break their character by making it so they're the "only player who's hp can't go down" while Kayaba made it so it did go down, but in order to keep an image he used the system to camoflauge that. Kayaba is just the creator, he's still beatable because he chose to be a player, and when he was losing just to keep his image he used cheating. Kirito is a player who ranked up like how you would an actual MMORPG or even a regular RPG. You simply level up fighting low ranked monsters which we saw him actually doing in the beginning, he leveled up quick because in actual games you're *_meant_* to level up rather quick because you put effort into going through the story and such. In fact, an example, Diablo in all parts. You level up quite quickly in all the Diablo games and sure, as you gain more they become harder to obtain but it's rather easy to gain levels. Kirito did that. He just leveled up more consistently in his speed, strength, agility, etc. and was constant about it mostly until he got to a point he didn't need to grind as much as he used to. Kirito isn't an OP character from the getgo, we saw him in the beginning killing off low ranked monsters and trying to advance as much as possible and the anime essentially just time skipped. Not to mention, being a solo player, he gets all the EXP while the rest are mostly in parties and guilds which the EXP is split equally. Those people aren't going to level up as quickly as Kirito because the EXP is divided while Kirito gets all the EXP for the monsters he kills. It's a simple way to think on it.

@@trans_panda An year later but take another thing into account. Kirito was a beta tester and reached floor 27 if I recall correctly. This means he already had an advantage over other players and knew where the good starting quests were and how to beat the first few bosses, so he was always on the frontlines fighting the strongest enemies and getting the most XP.

This one episode has so many gems. Asuna being the badass she always deserved to be, Godfrey butchering Shakespeare, Kuradeel being a typical fanboy in every way but for a murder gang, Kirito reusing Kuradeel's words to imply that Asuna is "strong, and confident, and absolutely terrifying please don't kill me", plus a call back to a line in episode 4... Amazing. And yet the next episode is even better in my opinion.

Honestly, character defining moment this episode to me. Him shit talking his murderer in the face of being stabbed to death is right up there with jumping into that boss fight last episode.

I’m the og anime the strategy he was forming actually plays out and lasts probably 45 seconds and the reason heathklif looks so pissed is cause he actually had to use the cardinal system (admin privileges) to win the fight and Kirito started to suspect him since that fight

I thought Rosalia was someone Kirito had slept with before Asuna, as a funny joke. But after rewatching the Abridged series, I realized that Rosalia was the redhead from Episode 4, who said to Kirito before he killed her: "This is the deepest you'll ever be in a woman." Now, the joke is even more hilarious because it's him saying: "Suck it, Rosalia!"

After watching this any time you go back and watch the original show its not going to hold a candle to the abridged. The develop the relationship so much better and the personalities don't feel as 2 dimensional. And of course the call backs kill me.

I've considered going back to watch the original, I don't think I've seen it since it aired on Toonami. I remember Kirito's speech after the first boss feeling really jarring and out of character. I read an explanation later that he was trying to bring negative attention to himself to keep people from blaming the beta testers, but I didn't get that at all from watching it. But for the abridged, his speech was exactly what you would have expected

Could've been real interesting if it wasn't completely forgotten and replaced by the harem that doesn't even make sense with the story. But, aside from this misooprtunity, there is no reason to rewatch the original, except if your favorite episodes were the fishing and incest ones

Hiya. Just subscribed tonight and watched all your videos after my roommate brought you up. We reference this masterpiece constantly and both of us independently had been watching another react series from TheDuckGoesMoo without knowing the other also was. Loving your reactions. It always amazes me just how much better they made the story with the abridged. Even the dual wield explanation last episode as that duel axe wielding guy from the Rosalia scene was in the original for some reason. Keep up the great work!
