This. This is why Alucard is more interesting than most other overpowered protagonists. He's not meant to be likable or relatable, like so many others are intended to be (only to fail). He's a monster, ready to snap at a moment's notice and kill everything, and the only thing that holds him back is his contract with the Hellsing family. He's scary, he'd be the villain if not for his bond to Integra. And Freeman's performance sells every bit of this horrifying intensity.

He’s an extremely dangerous loose cannon that will create an ungodly amount of collateral damage. Ultimate Alucard is a violent and dangerous monster, but one who’s still closely bound by his contract with the Hellsings. They give him the permission to destroy, and he will destroy, and only when he is given the order

Besides the obvious advantage of comedy, the Abridged series actually has drama here: instead of this orgy of blood and manliness, there's conflict: Integra's restraint vs Alucard's insanity. There's a reason the Abridged series is so popular and it's not dick jokes. Well, not JUST dick jokes...
