@@mimib8032 Yes, and the chef Jordi Cruz, despite not being the owner, will still be the one recognized as a three-Michelin star chef because he's the one running the awarded kitchen. While it's the restaurants what receive the award as a whole, never, ever is their chef denied the label of "Michelin-star chef" when they don't personally own the place. In other words: the star is awarded to the restaurant, that's true, but the chef doesn't need to be the owner of said restaurant to be recognized, while heading its kitchen, as Michelin-awarded by extension. Was Declan the chef of a Michelin star restaurant without personally owning it, everybody would say he has a Michelin star because the restaurant whose kitchen he'd be running would be recognized with one.

There are actually studies that suggest sight can effect how foods taste, both for identifying what the food is and your brain predicting the flavour, and for the look/preparation making it more or less appealing/tasty. I don't know how reputable they are yet, but it's interesting and could show why these frozen meal and blindfold tests don't always go how we'd expect😅 (and in kitchen nightmare when Gorden pretends to have cooked the chefs food, because the owner always hates it when they know it's from their chef)

These blind taste tests seem like one of those things where most people (myself included) would vastly overestimate their ability, then be left standing there dumbfounded after getting everything wrong. I mean it's easy for me to sit here laughing over the fact that chefs of this caliber didn't realize they were eating carrots or chicken, but I think this challenge is so much more difficult than any of us think it is. We're used to eating finished meals, where the flavor from all the separate aspects of the dish come together in harmony to produce the final taste we are all familiar with, but I'm willing to bet we would all utterly fail if someone started handing us single ingredients that were used to make the meal, and asking us what they are from taste alone. It's just like how all of us could tell you that our car isn't working properly and needs to be taken to a mechanic, but wouldn't be able to recognize the specific parts that are causing the overall failure unless it was insultingly obvious. Honestly sort of tempted to try this challenge out with a few of my friends to see how we all do, interesting concept! Good challenge too since any chef who has a chance of winning or opening their own restaurant should be intimately familiar with all the ingredients they use before they're ever made into a meal.

I kind of don't blame the guys guessing chicken at filet Mignon. Lots of different, non-gamey meats with very little fat tend to be described as "tastes like chicken". Take crocodile for example, although the texture does vary between them so considering the mignon is incredibly tender in comparison to even a perfectly cooked chicken breast they should know better as chefs hoping to run upscale restaurants. That said, I would flunk the challenge and so would most of us lol
