The last rose of summer in Schmidt film is so impressive. Thank you for introducing this precise film. Michael! Would you mind congratulating Korean cool autumn coming back.

Hello Chang, thanks for listening. Yes, I agree with you about Schmidt and The last rose of Summer, I wish that he'd recorded the whole song. There's a nice recording of it from 1938 on KZbin by a Korean soprano, Chai Sunyup. I might have already sent you a link to it but, if not, here it is kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3vFZ3qGarZpf5o I've been so busy with this video and other things that I think I still have two of your videos to watch. I'll do that later today. See you.

@@michaelmcgrailengland Thank you for linking Korean soprano video. Unfortunately from 1910 to 1945 Korea is Japan's colony. It's so shamed history. Busy is good thing. You are so strong man. See you Michael!

@@MountainwalkwithMusic I got there at last Chang. They are great videos and a good choice of music. There certainly are some lovely parks in Korea and always with views of the mountains and those grasses still waving at me!! Enjoy your next walk.

@@MountainwalkwithMusic Well Chang, I'm glad you've got the cooler Autumn weather that you were looking forward to. I hope it's not too cold for mountain climbing but the gallery in your latest video looks like a nice place to visit ( especially for people like yourself who are getting on in years----- ha ha ha) and the choir and music are great.

This video is yet another gem in your collection, Michael… 🌟 Great voices and beautiful music! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was particularly fond of the clip with Joseph Schmidt that you inserted. And Szöke Szakáll hiding behind the curtain was so amiable - as was the elderly couple who probably played Joseph‘s parents in the movie 💕💕💕 Thank you for the terrific post! 🙏🍀 Also great: Paul Robeson singing Schiller‘s wonderful lyrics (Freude, schöner Götterfunken) in German… Well done! 👏👏👏

Thanks for listening Harriet, I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. Yes, I agree with you about Joseph Schmidt, it's a great clip, I wish that he had recorded the whole of The last Rose of Summer, it's a favourite of mine. Best Regards, Michael. ☘

@ „The Last Rose Of Summer“ is among my favourites as well! I love the old Irish tune as well as what von Flotow did with it in the opera… 🌹 Now Jussi Björling is waiting for me on your channel! Meet you there! 🤩

Michael what a joy this is, I’ve fallen by the wayside a bit lately, not looking favourite selections as much since I broke my elbow 8 weeks ago. ( plaster off now but still not straight) So now I am catching up! What fabulous clips and photos, I just love Joseph Schmidt, what lungs in one of small stature! I may have said before that Paul Robeson, when he got his passport back, did come to the Eisteddfod, I remember going, it mustn’t have been that far from Newport up the Valleys but we could only listen outside the marquee on a loudspeaker as it was full. I must find out more about the “gig”). Thankyou so very much and hope you are well 🙏🙏

It's my pleasure Sheila, nice to hear from you. I'm glad that you found this one, I thought you'd like it with it having Paul Robeson on. Sorry to hear about you accident, it sounds painful, I had a knee replacement three years ago and, after a year, I still couldn't bend or straighten it enough to ride my bike. It's a lot better now but still not right. Hopefully your elbow will be back to normal soon and, when you get your cataracts fixed, you won't keep tripping on the dog's lead!!

@@michaelmcgrailengland I literally fell by the Wayside ! Walking with Kara along the Water of Leith, stepped off a metal step while looking the other way admiring the weir. Dog went to Edinburgh Royal in the ambulance 🚑 with me! I see there are some other gems of yours to enjoy, I’m back into it now🙏
