Hubby and I went out to dinner last night with our neighbors and friends that are mutual friends of yours Benny & Cheryl. During dinner the subject came up about hair stylists and barbers in and around The Villages, and Benny confessed he goes to the same $8 hair cut place that Jerry does. 🤣 Want to thank you both for being the inspiration behind Benny & Cheryl moving to The Villages because they not only are our neighbors, they have become dear friends. ❤️ And without Cheryl's encouragement I would have likely never stepped foot on a golf course and now I play several times a week not well; but having great fun playing. 😁

Thanks so much for the “ask Amy” segment. As a retired lawyer I spend so much time harping at my friends and siblings to get wills and other important documents in order. My biggest speech is that if you remarry and die without a will, your spouse will get everything (in canada) and if they then die, it will all go to their kids and not yours. Also purge those tchotchkes so your kids don’t have to. End of rant.

We got our bed from the Sleep Number store, two twin XL's come tother to form a king. The sheets are twin XL's but the quilt is a king, when the bed is made you can't tell it's two beds. They do not pull apart (I was afraid they would). We also have two separate controls where we can each raise our head and feet, expensive -- yes, but I love it the best investment I ever made.

Our king size bed that is divided in 2 so that each of us can do our own thing creates a pretty big hole in the middle after a of couple years. We experienced that on our Sleep Number bed. However, we do like each being able to do our own thing with our own side.

My wife and I have the adjustable bed frames (each separate, but combined equal a King sized bed) and we LOVE it! They are motorized and are operated with a wireless remote. You'll need to purchase 2 Twin XL mattresses (no box spring needed) and Twin XL sheets. Best purchase we ever made!

Thanks for the video! So far, I like the new format! To me, closing the squares at 9pm is a good idea - that's my bedtime. I don't think that many people would be left after that hour. Amy's section on getting married later in life was great, and I hope that woman looking for a single man in the Villages finds one. Maybe Jerry and Linda should have a new tee that says "I'm Single" to help her and other single people in the Villages. I think I'm going to like the saving with Cindy section as well. Hope your family (with all of your current family guests) are having a good time!

Having worked in construction - I know the construction lingo😅 it's sort of an accent on its own. More great advice, thanks Amy! Stuff - if you haven't used it a season or two - donate it. My wife and I have been here for 4 years and have only met negative people who choose to be negative. Another bed suggestion for you to look at. I have used Comfort Select now for years. I won't buy anything but Comfort Select for myself. The options seem endless when you go to the store, but I like the fact that you can get a kind or queen mattress with separate air chambers so you each can adjust the pressure to your own preferences. You can also get an extra long length which would be good for Jerry. The adjustable bed can be control from each side. I have seen one that even will self-adjust if a person is snoring so it won't disturb the other person. The adjustability is wonder if you are sick or have to have a surgery like I did for my knee replacement. It lets you get up and down without help. I have friends who really like the Tempur Pedic but it just doesn't work for my arthritis. I suggest you check out both brands. Love the new format and the new savings segment. About the bed. A king is 76"x 80". A hospital bed uses a Twin XL mattress. It is 39 X 80. The hospital beds are adjustable (usually electric) The height can be adjusted also which can give you lots of storage space underneath. They can be found used, cheap. Then just buy a twin XL mattress. The metal frames aren't pretty, maybe some slip covers could be made? Sheets are easier to change (and wash) And it all could still be covered with a king quilt.

We look forward to your shows every week. We just purchased a home “SOFO” in Citrus Grove and are looking forward to our first winter season there. About the bed…we have had adjustable beds for several years and love them. Have had king adjustable as well as twin adjustable. The twin gives you the flexibility to each adjust the bed as you prefer whereas the king you have to agree. I find the king easier to change the sheets but overall we prefer the twin so we can each choose our comfort. Most mattresses today fit on an adjustable base and sometimes the adjustable base is included on a sale. Hope to “ see you when we get there”

I love how your mentioned the freedom of perching. We have given most of our belongings to our kids or sold it on FB to get ready for our move to the Villages. Linda's accent is more like a hills accent similar to Tennessee. Doesn't sound like the southern accents found in the Carolinas, Alabama and Mississippi. And Texas is totally different too. We tried a sleep number mattress, and it didn't seem to age any better than other mattress even though it was much more expensive. We like to replace our mattress every 5 years or so. We found a very affordable option. We bought a king size bed with headboard, side rails and foot board that would accommodate 2 twin size adjustable bed bases side by side. We each can select the mattress we are most comfortable with. I like a very soft mattress and my husband like a medium-firm mattress. The separate adjustable bases allow us to adjust independently of each other. Twin size adjustable bases are very affordable and they fit side-by-side perfectly in our king size bed. It works out perfectly and is much lower in cost than other options.

We have a split king adjustable bed. We love it! Hubby likes the head of bed up and I don't. Only prob is when we change the sheets... it can be a chore even after raising the ends. We flip the mattresses around every 4 wks and the mattresses are still like new. We got this set up in 2020.

Hi Linda! You mentioned today about getting a split adjustable mattress set up. We just recently researched that idea thoroughly (for months). We made the decision to buy a king non-split mattress with adjustable base. We are new to this setup but since buying it have discovered that when we are sleeping just don’t like to sleep with our head or legs too elevated. If you sleep with head too elevated you find yourself sliding too far down in the bed! So we have been able to settle on a little head and leg tilt. You might be surprised for sleeping that you just don’t want too much elevation. Also save lots of $$$ with one mattress with adjustable base. Good luck on your search!

I highly recommend the Sleep Number bed. A split king!! I have a very bad back from an injury. I was unable to sleep in bed until we got the Sleep Number bed. I can adjust to any position I need without disturbing my hubby. Also you can adjust the firmness for each side. I like mine softer than my hubby. We love it & it was totally worth the money!!

Jerry me and my wife have 2 beds in to different rooms both have split beds go up and down separately because sometimes I’ll be sleep and she be up watching TV. It’s a a must very expensive. at sleep number that’s where you go in Claremont.

I can’t begin to tell you how much my husband and I HATED our split king bed. Yes, it’s two twin XL mattresses on an adjustable base but it is a bear to change the sheets. You have to have split king sheets which aren’t the easiest to find and we would find that if we wanted to snuggle in the middle the mattresses would slide apart and one or both of us would end up in the “ditch”. And we didn’t use the adjustable base as much as we thought we would. I was so happy when we got rid of it and went back to a regular king. Just my two cents but I don’t recommend.

The Village folks ruined "their town?" If I'm not mistaken, before the Villages became what it is, this cluster of small towns was basically known as a rest stop for drug traffickers traveling down to Miami. Instead you have 140,000 active, self-sufficient residents... and the thousands of jobs, and businesses, they've attracted.
