I'm sorry people question your motives. Growing up in the same area as you, I 100% trust you. I think it has a lot to do with how we are raised here. We are very trusting people because we are trust worthy, hard working, Idahoans. I love what you are doing. Keep up the great work and great intentions. You rock!!!

I have a lot of faith in him and have been following the 1 euro homes since it was introduced by cnn I’m super excited I’ll be able to buy my house next year in Sicily and as a 23 year old that shit is hard man but once you really come down to earth and look at things from his perspective, he’s literally giving all of us a guide to not be 100s of 1000s of dollars in debt (like American homes) to where we’re also revitalizing a country with rich history. Thanks so much DauvO for everything you do and hope to connect next year!

Ciao DauvO, I have been enjoying your channel for some time and really like the premise on which you are building this project. It's fun and engaging and the intentions are to benefit the greater whole. I stopped in Sambuca di Sicilia for a few hours on a cross island drive in 2019 and was very impressed. I met briefly with a woman (name begins with M) who sells real estate there and again was impressed. They are building infrastructure and community in ways that are very mindful and respectful with the intention of retaining and reawakening the character and culture of this very beautiful place. Not at all what I expected. My dad's family immigrated from a Sicilian hilltown 2 generations ago and I plan to eventually retire part time in Sicily. I love every inch of Sicily I have explored in 4 visits. I will look at your website and give it some more study and attention. Don't worry about those who are suspicious, they can't help themselves and just have not met enough beautiful Sicilian people yet. Trust me, there's more gold in the hearts of Sicilians than any bank on Wall Street. Keep the Faith!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We are happy to be involved in sambuca. I am glad you had the time to experience it. That's what we are going for. Can you tell me what exactly was impressive about the way the community is focused? Just curious your thoughts

@@DauvO Sure thing. It was the general aesthetics of the town. It looked well-kept, like people cared about the place. The main street was vibrant with lots of businesses. I was there when school let out and there were tons of kids! That's a necessary and vital sign of life in any Italian small town. Not sure if they are still, but at that time they had a live community theater in town. They were building a new gas station and minimart at the edge of the old town. Looking at the surrounding areas, I saw a number of active farms and vineyards, so I am sure the availability of fresh farm-to-table products is plentiful. Ok, before I start sounding like the Chamber of Commerce, I'll just say that I hope all of this continues after the challenges of the last +2 years. 🤞🏼 Viva Italia!! 👍🏼🇮🇹❤

Thank you so much for your dedication and interest helping the Italian communities and helping us here in the US reach our dreams. I am really interested in the Puglia region because that is where I was born and raised. i would like to return back to my area if possible. I would not mind renovating a home or maybe turn a home into an Air B&B in Puglia but I don't know which area would attract tourists for an Air B&B. I was wondering if you had any in the Monopoli or around this area. You have inspired me for a year and a half and I want to make this happen. Can you give me some ideas how I can ?

I'm just following along a bit. Am looking and learning about the Italian real estate market on various platforms with feedback also from people (family and friends) in Italy. I've noticed the peculiarities of the sales market there are many, including this bit of not wanting to sell particularly cellar spaces, ie non habitable garages or tavernas that at the same time are key to the entire structure of a building. It makes me wonder why, what it's about. Do you have a grasp on this? Is it simply bc in some older villeages specifically parking is scarce and of value, or are there mire technical, perhaps legal ramifications involved that's significant to this tendency? I'd personally not feel comfortable investing in purchase or renovations of any significance knowing the foundation of the property is still in the ownership of whomever I purchased the space from. Which often seems to be the case, the seller holding on to the basement. I understand if it's a commercial space operated as a shop or service by the iwner or anyone else, that's different and doesn't apply to the bottom- market houses. It's unimportant how cheap the sales price is if you still need to make significant investments in improving it and/or spend lots of time and effort getting your property in shape. Also, in areas with zip for public transportation, not having a space to park any type of vehicle in the shade, and if only a part time home safely, is a practical problem one would like to solve more or less immediately. What's more is these houses have basically no storage nor laundry area besides these bottom or semi-cellars, and rooms tend to be small, bathrooms always need ti be added sacrificing existing rooms, so again, in townhouses not owning these tavernas and garages poses a practical problem. Where would you put your washing machine, your sports gear, bicycles, vespa, car, prams, tools (or gardening equippmemt if you have a garden), or all your personal stuff when an if you sublet the space when you can't spend time there personally (which I assume everyone would like to do) if you can't access this part of the house? Lastly, if you want to create your own division of the property into autonomous spaces with separate entrances, using these spaces is probably key. I get the feeling this is perhaps a strategy in some cases to force the buyer to not go too low with a counter offer. As the asking price is for the main residence, but with a possible added purchase of the garage/taverna on top. It's meant to give the seller an upper edge in sales negotiations. Just a theory, and maybe not applicable on a 1 € house, but I'd love your input on the subject. I also understand there's none or very limited taxes on spaces in this category, which may be of importance to the why's here? I've not followed this project, but at first glance I'd say buy both cellars/garages. If diving into two spaces use the roof of one as a terrace for the other (planning your windows wisely) and using half the tallest top floor as a roof terrace for the other property. Covered or not. I already know that if I were to renovate in Italy I'd spend energy/money on a few things and save on others, but thats to long a list for a comment here. 😉

Hey Dauvo. I just signed up for your giveaway. I'm very excited. I would prefer a place up north, Piedmont. But, if this giveaway gets me one step closer to moving to Italy. I'm in. Definitely want to feel like part of a community. Good luck to everyone that has entered. I used my personal email address instead of my public email that is used for social media, that is not linked to anything else and just confirmed the email address. I really hope I win.

How do we know if the town/community wants an influx of foreigners and will be welcoming? I thought you had a limited timeframe to complete renovations on $1/$2 Euro homes?
@DauvO2 жыл бұрын
Good question! Still figuring that out for myself, but in my last trip it was evident there was at least a portion of the locals who were happy to see us. As far as being there full time, the challenge impacts heavier for sure. I guess it depends on whether the influx begins to make ridiculous demands based on the culture. We have a few years, but most cities are fairly lenient as long as you are making progress

Hey there, love your vids! We've recently checked out Maenza for the 1 euro house initiative, but we've been told that the 1 euro properties are finished. In your experience, does the Comune in general have a tendency to pick and choose applicants according to their preferences?
@DauvO2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it is impossible, but many cities follow a precise schedule so if you didn't catch the homes when they were released, there really aren't any available. Sambuca is the same. Maenza said the same thing to me when i went. But it doesn't mean it will never happen
@naji4652 жыл бұрын
@@DauvO thanks for your feedback..we'll keep trying...just wondering if the towns in general prefer to award the properties to foreign applicants over Italian ones...or maybe they're not bothered?
