Help! My mug stuck to the cookie-how do I get it off? Let’s grind! Bonus glaze combo included!

In this video, my gorgeous mug stuck to the cookie and the kiln shelf. It happens. We will demo how to grind the cookie off using a grinder, at first. After the big chunks are grinded off, we will sand it on the wheel using a diamond core grinding disc.Highly recommend those!!! Always use water when using the diamond core sanding disc.

Well girl, the Big Guy did an A+ job... keep him around for a while longer! Ironically, as I type, I have the same glaze combo cooking--- will know the results in the morning. I sensed the Muddy Water would be a runaway pain in the arse---but it is pretty cool in the end. Continued good luck playing with clay.

A pointed diamond Dremel tool can get it off cookie and grinding bat can do rest too.

Oooooh girl do I have something for you!!! I pour my own stilts with midfire slip and I use them to make sure my pot is off the kiln cookie more. I’ll send you a pic of them. I have a ton. I don’t put stilt pins in mine right now so they sit on the stilt much much better.

LOVE THIS MUG!!! OMG THIS IS SOOOOO HELPFUL!! I have a grinder tool like that but haven’t ever seen that pad. Thank you soo much. What is the second blade he’s using? I can’t believe I’ve never seen anyone use one of these like this!! So about the glaze application, try putting one coat of the second glaze where you did and then recede each coat about 3/4”. That will really help with glaze drips. I always recede each additional coat when using multiple glazes.

I can’t believe I missed this comment! Oh I’m so glad it was helpful..that’s a win! Those diamond disc pads are INCREDIBLE! I put the link to them in the description. Expensive but they last forever! The second grinder is a tile cutter attachment..I can ask Matt more questions about it too 😂 that’s a great idea about the receding glaze layers. You know what? I knew that and totally forgot about it 😂 like I remember to recede with certain combos but not with others 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe it’s my age or time of the month 😂😂😂😂 I will remember now that YOU told me tho! Thank you!!!!

Thanks! The discs I alternate between 120 (medium) and 240 (fine) depending on the piece. Then I use the hand sanding pads to get into the spots that I can’t get on the wheel (discs)

It’s a company called diamond core tools that sells grinding discs that stick to a bat! BUT, they are expensive so we found a cheaper one on Amazon that works just as well!
