Following last weeks kiln opening video, where we unloaded the poppy seed heads and planter using copper oxide and Bullseye Glass Frit, this weeks video shows how I remove the kiln cookies from the work and dremelling using my Einhell drill and diamond tipped ends to give the work a smooth finish.
I use non-genuine Dremel ends purchased from Amazon called:

Thanks Sarah for a 'behind the scenes look' at what you do when it's just you and your studio. Being a student you don't always know or, in some cases don't want to know, all the work that's involved to make our experience more enjoyable. Thankyou x😊

Angle grinders frighten me as well! Thank you Sarah for this info, I will certainly get some of those tips, as I only purchased small diamand discs a few months ago, and the diamand tips do a great job. Now I can still get some more life out of my Kiln shelves as well and keep the new ones for later 😊 love your videos, you are so generous with sharing so much info and I have learned a lot from you😊

Thanks for this. I use a number of things, including a hammer and chisel, grinding block and angle grinder (and I'm a girl!) to clean my kiln shelves. I do kiln wash them, and find that most drips pop off with a tap from the chisel. Also, I have a cordless Dremel. I love it! It works great for any number of things, and I'm not tied to an electrical outlet. Perhaps I'll try it on some of the more stubborn small drips next time. I'm glad you had a great trip, and welcome back!

@thepotterycorner

@@micheledickey4066 - yes there's a reason Michele - I find kiln wash becomes 'dusty' after a couple of firings and can blow around the inside of the kiln and attach to work. Hope that makes sense 😊

Hi Sarah. Thanks for a VERY useful video. I have (well my husband has) an Einhell and I have spent god only knows how much on so called bits for “ceramics”, only to be bitterly disappointed. Following your video I took a note of the accessories you used. I ummed and ahhed- would they be any good? I had a kiln disaster in the week - a lamp base came off the stilts and rolled into a Santa!😢. I ordered the bits straightaway and this morning me and hubby tackled the mess that was left after I managed to separate them with a hammer. Gotta say it was so easy! Well worth the money. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Anita in N Dorset
