like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzbin.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

Just recently purchased a 55 in TV series by Vizio. Pretty happy with the TV overall. The picture is stunning and comparable to most of the high contrast televisions out today. I am controlling most of my home lighting and the Vizio with a Google home. I can tell it to turn on the television to a particular Channel or tell it to play Spotify to a particular Channel and it'll turn on the TV and do as told.

same I have a Samsung series 6 and it seems after a few minutes of being turned off it disconnects from the wifi so when you ask Alexa to turn on tv it can’t recognize it. Hello for everyone trying to turn on Samsung TV with Alexa try this if you haven't already because this help me out and finally I'm able to turn on my Samsung TV with Alexa so I just deleted the SmartThings app on the Google play store and re-downloaded it and add my TV back to the SmartThings app and it now works like a charm. I can do everything like turn off/on TV, change channels, increase/lower the volume etc.

I would recommend going to your play store to be sure it's installed on the device. Do this by opening the Play Store, then search for SmartThingsApp. Select the app and you should have an ‘Install’ button to select. If it’s already installed on the device then it will say ‘Open’ instead. Tap this to be taken to the app. Still having issues? Very nice. This is the procedure I finally used a few days ago. There's an alternative procedure you can use by logging into Amazon Prime, and adding your (Samsung TV) "Authorization Code." I wasn't able to find the code with the correct number of digits that works.

Nice video, thanks! If your TV turns off but not on follow these steps: First go to your SmartTV advanced network settings and enable remote control via mobile devices and IP remote control. Connect your TV with Samsung Smartthings. Then connect Smartthings with IFTTT and create an trigger which turns on TV. If you now say "alexa trigger TV" alexa will switch on TV.

Thank you. This 71 y.o. geezer had to re-do it a few times, because of fast (but correct) instructions. Got it right though, and everything works. Just one thing I noticed. I'm hooked up to DISH, via their Joey (for this secondary TV). It turns the TV on perfectly, but when turning it off, it turns it off as directed, but doesn't turn off the bouncing DISH screensaver. Hmmm! So I just push the bottom little red "TV" button directly under the somewhat larger "power" red button (on DISH remote). Wallah! Mine is a 3 y.o. 65" Samsung Smart TV. This is great. Now, can you do a video on getting Alexa to control your security system? Mine is a cheapo Kangaroo w/its own app. You just got a new subscriber who even clicked your links above, since my primary TV is a 2020 QLED 55" Samsung Smart TV 4K w/a bluetooth button.

If you have a new tv and Alexa won't turn it on but will turn it off it is because you're using a wired connection and when the tv is off you cant turn it on with the app. Switch to a wireless connection and you should be able to turn it on.

I have an Echo Dot 5, a brand-new Samsung Smart TV, the Alexa app on a brand-new android cell phone along with the Samsung Smart things app and everything is linked/synchronized with the TV. I was already able to operate the television, (power on and off, changing channels, adjusting volume) using my Echo Dot 5. I was never able to venture outside of anything other than the above abilities such as, opening Netflix, Roku, nor TV menu items such as bass, treble, etc. which are all things that would greatly increase my independence that I would love to do without bothering anyone for help. I don't use cell phones because I'm paralyzed from the neck down. After everything is set up with/synchronized between the apps of the television and the apps on the cell phone, am I able to use my Echo Dot 5 to access and navigate the Netflix, Roku, and any additional apps I decide to add or do I have to speak to the phone to do that?

Hello , I have a Samsung 7 series model purchased in Oct 2019. I am unable to see smart things option in Alexa app ... I can see Sony , LG, TCL, OnePlus and Samsung Audio but not the smart things option. Please help

Did you go to Skills and Games, search up SmartThings, and link your tv.

@@abzolutelynothn Yes I did ... Smart things is not listed in the Alexa app . Does it has anything to do with the geography ? I am in India

Praveen S 1. Download Smartthings on your phone and connect your TV. 2. Go to the Alexa app and go to Menu > Add Device > TV > Other. You should find a TV with the name you gave it in Smartthings. It should also have the description of Smartthings Samsung TV.

I followed this and instructions on Samsung’s website but cannot get Alexa to work. Says unable to connect to Amazon Alexa server even though it’s all connected and network is fine

HelpCloud just downloaded it yesterday so it should be the up to date one
