Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

The reason LAX has a top floor for arrivals and a bottom floor for departures is so that the 60,000 hopefuls arriving each month with their heads held high, don't see the 60,000 broken hearted leaving with their tails between their legs. -Robert Downey Jr "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang." I don't know how true that is but still pretty funny. Great movie. Check it out if you haven't seen it.

Don't move here unless you have a) the money already to support yourself for a year or so b) family here to rely on c) a job lined up already d) you already have a job in an area not related to writing (most preferable) and can sustain you while you go after your goal. LA is NOT the place to wing it financially

Mr Glass as someone from Southern California, (Orange County) , LA is not the move right now or at least not for the near future, maybe pre pandemic it would’ve been a decent choice, but now it really is a dead city without a soul. People Are leaving by the bus load. Extremely depressing visually, culturally and terms of atmosphere it’s grey. Every person living there seems to be tapping into a collective state of depression/anxiety. I really don’t even look toward LA for southern Californian culture anymore as it doesn’t even feel like California

This video helps me realise that, although it's better to have a plan, it's also alright to acknowledge that you mustn't be too hard on yourself trying to get everything as "boxes to tick off" as you said.

What about writers/enthusiasts who are not native to US? Can you make a video on how they can close in opportunities in Hollywood without visiting LA in the initial phase? I mean is this even possible 😕

To everyone who is thinking about going to LA, now is the time. Take a look at the comments in this video. This is how everybody thinks and so their life moves in accordance. If you don’t think in this way and are determined and make the leap and are smart the opportunities in LA right now are tremendous. You can get the cheapest apartment in years out there. Everyone can get a job remotely. Excuses, excuses, excuses. I was just out there recently for two weeks and it was wonderful. People are open and caring. It’s all about your perspective. There’s always going to be the bleak and dark realistic people. Follow your dreams and watch your mindset and live your life. If you’re not afraid of working and you’re determined you will do fine in Los Angeles. It’s a wonderful town with great people and also it’s a city so it’s full of all the dark and bleak and cynical and pessimistic people. Nothing new.

Great interview. My wife and I are moving to LA in 3 weeks. I’m glad I spent five years in San Diego first learning production and getting used to the cost of living. We are also on the backend (hopefully) of the pandemic so housing costs were ridiculously low...for LA.

Ok but what about finances? He makes it sound so easy, but all the people I've talked to say it's hard. Most of them end up not being able to hash it and give up n move back home.

I am rahul from asia. I did my post graduation programme in screenwriting. I have completed a feature film full length original script which is of horror genre. I want to sell it in hollywood what are the ways for that ? Plz help .

What did you think was going to happen once you had your post-grad? No plan for moving forward? You're at the same level as any starter anywhere, degree or not. No script-reader, if you can get it to one, cares one jot about the degree. They just read the script. Hopefully, yours will be correctly presented as required, so that's a plus.

@@rmanav8830 You will only get scripts onto the right desk via an agent. Studios never take spec scripts directly for fear of plagiarism. Getting an agent is the big puzzle. Do a search on 'How do I get an script Agent', then write books instead of scripts.
