Do you know if Masterlock fixed this in newer 140's? Sparrow combs will not open the 140 I just bought.

I've acquired _five_ of these locks and _none_ of them have been opened with a comb. They just don't work. I _do_ know what I'm doing, so I assume ML quietly revised these at some point like they did with the No 3.

I can't thank you enough for this video! I have a locker at work that had a Master lick on it. I was in a bad car accident back in January, and lost the keys to the lock in my totaled car. Thanks to you, I got the lock off and have access to my stuff again. Thank You!

Thank you for the kind words. Just remember it is not a good idea to pick locks in use.

I did this with my daughters locker lock(same exact model) with 2 bobby pins. I used one as torque pick and the other I bent up one end on the flat side to make a pick and discovered all I had to do was either put each pin up one by one while applying a lot of torque or just start in the back of the keyway and rake it out while turning. I had picked it so fast without any experience I KNEW something was up so I looked it up and came upon this video. I was testing how secure it was after her school year was over and now I know it's not secure at ALL so I will be buying her a better one next year lol. If somebody who has NEVER tried to pick a lock like me could get it open within 2-3 mins, this includes making the tools, anybody can get it open lol.

Thanks for this. I don’t have a comb yet, but this info about “overdriving” the key pins gave me an opening after wrestling with my 140 for a couple hours.

I have a four-prong comb pick and a Masterlock 140 and … it doesn't work. Perhaps they have strengthened the security?

There are different spacings for the comb pick. Likely yours's is not the right spacing

EXACTLY WHAT COMMENT'S IM LOOKING FOR, I'VE NOTICED FROM OTHER VIDEO'S THAT OTHER COMB PICKS HAVE MORE SPACING AND IS CUT DEEPER,I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET ANYTHING OPEN WITH THEM.

Is there much/any difference between the 140 and the 141T? Thanks yet again
@HelpfulLockPicker5 жыл бұрын
The comb pick works on both but the 141T has no security pins and feels ro be a weaker build. The security pins in the 140 don't help much anyway.

Hold the lock vertical, top of keyway on top, as shown at the beginning in the video. Slip a hook lockpick deep into the right side of the keyway, hook down. Locate a latch by moving the end of the lockpick up and down and feeling around for resistance of a spring against downward pressure. Pull out on the shackle and push down against the spring resistance. This action should retract the latch for the end of the shackle at the top. The shackle should pull out slightly, meaning that you have freed the top end from the latch. Continuing to pull on the shackle to keep the latch from falling back into the notch, remove the lockpick, turn it over, reinsert it and feel for similar spring resistance on the left side, pushing up. Push up to free the latch from the bottom and the shackle should pop out of the lock. You can practice with an open lock. Use your hook pick to retract the latch in the open well in the lock body. You will be doing the same thing later with the lock closed. However, with the lock open, you can not retract the latch at the other end of the shackle, because it is already retracted. It falls into a notch when the lock is closed and then you can retract it with your hook pick. This method only requires one very common tool, the hook pick, which can be found in basic lockpick sets.

To fix that they just have to use at least one longer driver pin... cost $0.001...

i just bought Southords comb set and a case for them. All the comb sets I see never come with a 4 prong, which you'd probably use the most, and Sparrows has the 45 but none higher. it was a bit spendy @ 45 bucks and I'll almost never use it but it's a good tool when you find one it works on.

Has anyone had success with this method? I’ve tried it for a few hours at different angles and it hasn’t budged the code at all. It lifts, but it doesn’t do anything that allows you to turn. Is this on a standard, non-modified 140D and, if so, do you know where I could be going wrong?

A comb is basically a master key for every cylinder of that type.
@HelpfulLockPicker2 жыл бұрын
They do a good job but it is not the cylinder that makes it work it is the tall bible. There are locks that take that cylinder that this won't work on.
