Earlier this year, while fighting to protect his country, Alexander Chaika lost his right leg to a Russian artillery shell. Last month he arrived in the U.S. to be fitted for a high-tech prosthetic leg, thanks to the charitable organization Future for Ukraine. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin talks with Chaika about recovering his mobility; with medical teams about the state-of-the-art prosthetics; and with Senator Tammy Duckworth, an American veteran who knows the hard truths of losing a limb in combat.

I suffered a spine injury 15 years ago. I won't ever walk normally again, but I am so blessed to have the mobility I do. We should do what we can to help warriors who fought for freedom.

OK hard to see because of tears... happy tears, sad tears and tears of hope. So grateful for the love that is being expressed in so many ways - and so hopeful that our world finds peace so that it is no longer necessary. Blessings to all.

These Americans, Senator Tammy Duckworth and Mike Corcoran, give so freely of their time, talent, and themselves that it shames me that I'm not doing more. It is truly inspiring to see them with Mr Chalka. If the US cannot yet directly help Ukraine with the aid of it's troops, this is the very least we can do for their wounded. Слава Україні!
