I love both the black and the wood stain sides. I think the black gives more of a sense that the sides don't exist, while the wood stained gives an artistic version of a chunk of earth cut out.

I'm always impressed each time I see your dioramas. Not only is the result at the quality of picture-perfect realism, but the staggering amount of effort applied to each individual detail in each project is inspiring. If you applied your diorama skills to a wargaming hobby such as Warhammer, I wonder how cool you could make them look if you applied the same amount of work ethic. I pray that you continue to upload outstanding work like this.

There's nothing wrong with being proud of you're own work. That's why they come out so beautiful. I like black bases and the strained ones. I think it best to go with whichever you think fits the scene your building. I agree, a little less water would have been good, but I don't think I've ever done a project that I didn't wish I'd done something a little bit differently 🙂 Absolutely beautiful work as usual 👍 Thanks Uncle Night Shift ❤

Wood stains often have different rules, such as needing multiple coats, wiping excess off, needing some sanding before reapplication and more. It is a good idea to always read labels for such things, also if these are only stains that don't harden the wood may have no protection, which in your case isn't a problem but if you want a better shiny finish simply rub a rug on some wax (beesewax ideal but any candle will do) and give it a pass over the veneer.

Fantastic job! 😲 The painting and weathering are spot on, lending realism to the scene. The colors and textures used on the base, though, pull all the elements together and set the 'mood'. Excellent figures, and they really give this scene its character. I make more use of my airbrush when painting figures but have a similar style of light coats to control opacity and build various hues and tones. Thanks for sharing the build! 👍
