When I hiked the Peden Lakes Trail, there was an incident where a strange male confronted a couple of young ladies and was acting weird and asked them for a hug. The ladies were shaken and declined and then backed away in my direction and then off the trail.
The male stared at them. I stayed because I did not want anything untoward to happen to them.
When we're on trails. Always be ready to step in and help other hikers. We're out there together and we need to rely on each other.
Filmed on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

When it happened in front of me, I didn't really understand it and what was going on. I thought maybe he knew them. Then after I had taken a couple of steps, I looked and listened and realised that he did not know them. They did a great job themselves. I'm glad I was there just in case he would have tried something.

God Bless you, Age!! 😇 I've only had something like this happen to me once, but I was extremely thankful to the man stranger that stood with me until I could get a ride the hell outta there. Sometimes people just aren't right in the head, and it can be very frightening. Thanks for being one of the good ones that is willing to stand and create "safety in numbers"! 😃💚👊

I think so! It was strange behavior from the guy and I was worried about the two girls so I stayed to make sure the man left. I wasn't going to let him do anything while I was there. I think it's good to watch out for others on the trail. Make sure they're ok if it looks like they need something. We never know when the person that needs something will be us.

Good man Age! So kind of you to stick around and follow through the situation. I can understand why those two declined the help offer, but for sure it's still nice when someone has your back, even if maybe your not aware of it, like those girls. Outdoor adventures are beautiful but anything can happen, so I agree we should be prepared as much as posible and help each other in need. Thanks for sharing this! 👍🏻😎

Not something I had planned on for the day...but I was compelled to make sure they were ok. They were young. About 14 to 16, I'd say. The guy in his young 20s. I'm glad nothing came of it. I just hope others would do the same and just be an extra person hanging around that may dissuade someone from doing something awful.

Paying it forward is how we should try and live. Just little things like moving into the other lane when somebody is trying to merge into traffic. Letting the elderly ahead of you in a bank lineup. Looking out for others on the trail like you did. Cultural change for the good comes one good deed at a time

I once stayed at a public beach. In the middle of the night, someone opened the door of my tent and came halfway inside. Of course I woke up and asked WTF. Then this guy asked me if I had any beer. That guy was drunk. I'd rather spend the night in the middle of the forest than on public beaches.

Very nice to stop and just watch to make sure they were okay! You are awesome Age. I really haven't ever had any creepy encounters - but I carry mace just in case.

I've seen those videos. Angry Bears aren't really a great choice either! It's good to have something to protect yourself from bears and humans. I've had creepy encounters and I didn't like it☹ So I feel for those two girls. It was probably an unsettling experience for them.
