Helpston Level Crossing

Saturday August 8 2015 at 5.03. The 13.30 Edinburgh to London (17.51) train, the 15.22 Birmingham to Stansted Airport (18.53) train and 66083 heading westwards towards the Midlands. This 6 track crossing was filmed from the other side in 2012. Earlier this year a 45 year old went to prison for 6 months for failing to stop twice at this crossing. 188 seconds was cut before the first train so there was a delay of 4 minutes 40 seconds between the crossing closing and the first train coming. Too long, the train must have been 8 miles away. There has been a recent proposal to close crossings in this area but it won't happen for years.

For the amount of time the train is actually crossing the road it seems hardly worth having the barriers there

I was there 3 days after you filmed this and I filmed it too. Stopped off here coming back down to Sussex from North Wales. And not to be picky, but could you try to come down to the South again and re-film some of your old videos? Normans Bay has new barriers and Winchelsea does too.
