If you look closely, the symbol on Ichigo's cape, is the same symbol that's on the Shield/Seal that Captain Ukitake brought to destroy the Sokyoku. It's the Family Sigil of the Shihoin Clan (Yoruichi's Clan) who are involved in the creation and management of the Sokyoku. They made a seal in case they had to subdue the Sokyoku in a worst case scenario. Yoruichi gave that cape to Ichigo so that he can fly within the Seiretei (normally they can't fly within the Seiretei because of the Sekki Sekki stone/huge wall covering the Seiretei). But why did she give him the cape if she already had a tool to fly? (which Ichigo used to get to Byakuya in their previous encounter) It's because the cape has another purpose. The cape was used to stop the Sokyoku.

Yea... this does seem likely. Bleach tends to do a lot of untold storytelling through visual cues, so this lines up. It did always seem odd, as powerful as he became, that he could pull that off so casually. At least with the Super Kami Wood thing, he had to try. This would also explain Soifongs reaction being a bit more drawn out, as she would likely recognized both the power and symbol in question faster then anyone else there would have.

The mangaka of Jujutsu Kaisen took great inspiration from Bleach. That's why some of the bankai feels like domain expansions.

There are a few ways to become captain. One of them is to pass this exam and you gotta get the approval of a bunch of the existing captains. And I think you gotta have bankai or something for that too. The other way is to just kill the previous captain in 1 on 1 combat and take their spot. And I think this can happen with any squad but the only one that really does it is the 11th one which is kenpachi’s squad. Traditionally they always get a new captain cause the old one got killed. And the same goes for the Kenpachi title. So if someone kills Kenpachi they get to be 11th squad captain and the new Kenpachi. Komamura is also literally 10 feet tall so that probably makes him scary more than him just being a dog person.

One of the ways the Gotei 13 works is anyone can become a captain if they beat/kill the current captain. Because the 13 captains are the strength and protectors. And strength is held to a VERY high degree more than anything else.

There are three ways to become Captain - I think it goes something like 1 you pass an exam, 2 you get recommended by enough Captains, 3 you kill the previous Captain in front of 200 people. I assume to the third one you have to not be an enemy of the Gotei 13 as well lol (and the 1st one, and maybe also the second one require bankai). The 3rd one, killing the previous Captain that is, is pretty much a tradition within the 11th Division. Although some 11th Division Captains have been actual enemies of the Gotei and had to be taken down and such, for the most part they are replaced when someone else beats them in a duel and gets accepted as Captain (funnily enough, I think the 11th Division might be the one we know the most the history of)

When I see the fight between Tosen and Kenpachi, I always feel like this fight makes people underrate Tosen. Kenpachi is almost certainly the worst match up for Tosen. Someone who can literally tank countless attacks and is crazy enough to stay calm and plan to tank them to then successfully counter. A lot of captain level Shinigami would have a bad time against Tosen. Apart from Yamamoto, Aizen, Kenpachi (and Soya) - who are just far superior in Reiatsu and power in general - I'd argue the only Captains who have a reasonable chance against Tosen are those with their own way of manipulating a fight which there are three of, I'm thinking about; as well as those who could be "quicker on the draw", so to speak, like Gin
