I got Australian PR and moved there last year, however, I realised all the points and moved back to India after 6 months due to all the possible factors mainly because of parents. This is a one way street. Rest is individual and different case for all. It was difficult to leave job in India and then again to leave job in Australia for relocating back to India.

My husband got opportunity in Singapore but when he joined the company he realised that his learning curve was being effected and meanwhile I was all excited to shift and start a new life there. Then my husband within 6 months got a good offer from one of the MNC in India. Although I know his decision is right. But somehow I feel sad and low many times thinking that we failed. My husband does not think so. I haven't shared with him how I feel about our return because I don't want to take away his happiness. But i want to come out of this sad phase as because of this return I feel at times that did we fail? Will we ever get an opportunity again.. These thoughts are messing up my mind. My confidence has gone low and at time over think that will we be able to earn better in India although me and my husband are both from IT sector and both are really hard working But I want to overcome these thoughts so that I can focus on my current things.. Can you please help me to overcome these sad thoughts and negativeness

I spent a long time living in Sweden (4 years). Because of the language barrier and the bad weather, I hated it. Then I moved to the US, became a citizen, and moved to a warmer place here. I love it here, but I miss India too. Every year, I spend a month in India.

@@cool3884 Hate is a relative term bro. Sunlight is essential for physical and mental well-being. I found it quite depressing and unhealthy to be in the cold and dark for most of the day for approx 4 months. I found the people to be cold, but they were generally nice, once you got to know them. As a vegetarian, I personally did not have many options for eating outside. So it WAS relative. Since I live on the West Coast, moving to the US was great. Warm and sunny.

I am almost retired, kids are doing fine here however researching to find a place in India to live few months initially but finally hope to live more and more until end. Any suggestions of nicely developed locations for senior people would help. You are doing a great service to college graduates who have too much attraction of western living. Fluency in English is mandatory for long term stay & future in America and other English speaking countries. Key to integration and a broader job market. Back office work (without interaction with the locals) for example in I.T can sustain only short term. Improve language fluency before attempting immigration. On the job training is available under most western employers provided the language base is adequate. Most people returning to India within a few years are returning because of the job situation. Most have lost their jobs. Have doggy immigration status or have no viable path for visa adjustment.

Doggy immigration status? If we talk about America specifically. There are about 7-8 lack Indians waiting for green cards. Which might take a lifetime. So Immigration status is same for most of the Indians living here.

Hi Sir …..I really appreciate your videos and your views I respect that hugely…..but here one thing I would suggest or would’ve like to add is that in your case you were lucky that you and your wife was on same page but 99% of cases people who wanted to move back to India were either one of the partner is completely against of that decision and that’s were people fall in dilemma……and one other sad part of This is where Grandparents has to move to America just because to take care of their Grandchildren and only until they grow up to Teenagers than they start feeling lonely and useless but its reality they will still survive or come back to India but live lonely but keep or try to keep smiling

Work culture on average is poorer in India. As an NRI, if you’re looking to move to India, it’s better to have a decent cash cushion so that you aren’t bothered much with the politics and other elements of work culture in India. There are some other options as well-research about the few companies in India that really have good work culture and apply to them, or start something of your own to solve the problems that India faces, or retire early with the money that you’ve saved. Good luck. I hope you get what you want.

So stop running around the world. I migrated to Canada 35 years back. Do I miss India? Yes very much. But as a whole have reconciled well to my life in Canada. So all of you, young and the restless, stop, make one decision and stick to it and reconcile. To have anything you have to give something. So stop attempting to get this or that and reconcile. All of us going through this experience called life and it is transitory. Life is short and make the best of this experience called life and reconcile. Before, you realize, it would be all over. So just live and make life of every person around you as pleasant and pleasurable as possible. I have just crossed 60. Most of you would thinking like me when you reach 60. The younger we are, the more the illusion we are under, and thereby waste a lot of time doing silly things. God bless us all.

My opinion is if you plan to go abroad, consider these things- - DO NOT move with the mindset of living there forever, which brings me to the second point... - Try to move when you are at the age of 25 max. - Finally try to go there to study and then work for a few years. That way you can return back to India and still have your whole life in front of you. In the end it depends on what an individual wants and the drive to achieve. Living in India is getting better but I feel there is still a long way to go with corruption, infrastructure and healthcare.

It isn't as easy. And life in India isn't as easy. You need to be ready for a LOT of changes in life. Not just to India but moving to any place when in 40s will be tough. India gives you that community feeling that makes you feel like you aren't alone in this. That's pretty much the only plus point of moving back. Parents will not be the same, they will have their own ways of life, their rituals and habits, and to be honest, unless you are living with them, it is still tough to support them on a daily basis. The traffic, pollution, unruly behaviour of people and the fact that you have to fight for every right of yours makes me wonder if it is worth it. As I said, only plus point is having a community ( which is also going through same struggles) making one feel like they aren't alone.

What community? Suppose you find yourself caught in a mob frenzy, do you think people will come to save you. Do you think that if you have had an accident and are lying all bloodied on the road, people will take you to some hospital. Or even call an ambulance. Just a few days back an engineer in Mumbai got hit by a truck. Two ladies took him to two different hospitals and both refused admission. The man died. What will you do and how will you feel if you come back from any developed country and one of your near one gets caught in such an unfortunate incident . All these things this man is saying are elitist viewpoints and come from a position of advantage.

Mera man nhi laga rha hai yaha UK mai, I really want to come back to India, but I have little children 5 n 2 years old. My husband never want to come back to India. He likes to be here. Aapke video jab bhi dekhti hu, I'm like...ye mujhe India bulakar hi rahenge..but sometimes choice nhi hoti. Aane ko to aa jaun, lekin bachche, family toot jayegi..so have to live here only with my kids amd husband...no choice to come back..I have my mom dad (old) there, I really want to be with them, but neighbours, relatives in India are like, ki parents ke paas aakar rehne lag gayi hai..n all that stuff..so all these things are making me feel ki jaise bhi raho yahi raho..India mai girls mai girls apne ghar mai nhi reh sakti..strictly no to them..chahe unka motive kuchh bhi ho, shadi ho gayi, means they are no more belong to their own family...so there is lot to think..its not easy for women like me..coz kahi na kahi parents bhi wahi sochne lagte hain, ki yaha hoti tab bhi to humse dur hi hoti (they mean in in laws n all). For girls it's totally a different story..for boys they can take decision whenever they want...but girls like me, its not easy..

Hi , to answer your question - as you cannot be with family back in india for long , you have 2 choices 1. Speak to your better half and see if you could spend sometime in india ( May be - 1 full year ) , this way you will spend some good moments with your parents and vice versa and it’s possible in your case bcoz kids are very young , 2 year kid gets to engage well and more socialize in India which is good for their growth, 5 age kids is still very small so his/her schooling wouldn’t have impact. This helps in these things 1. More socialization for kids, better growth. I have seen impact on kids stuck to screens and growing, and those socializing and growing. 2. Your parents would also feel happy , that you are there with them for Atleast a year. 3. Kids will have memories with grandparents ( your in-laws and your parents) and vice versa ) 3. Plan it such that you spend some time in uk as well ( eg: go to india In June 2023 , go back to uk for a month in dec 2023, then come back in Jan 2024, request your better half to come to india For a month or 2 in 2024 if possible more , then finally you both can go back ) Note: talk to your better half and see if this works .., one might not agree if one wants to completely shift , but a stopgap shifting one might agree . Not just your parents, but your better half parents might also might want to spend time with kids .. you can juggle between your home and in-laws home places when you are in india.. Dodnt think about what ppl around your home/ relatives say , it’s your life your decisions . Some might think that what you are doing is a wise decision,Since you juggle between in-laws home and parents home spending time with kids , some of them might feel jeouousy as well. Also set the expectations to both your family and your in-law family beforehand so that there is no miscommunication later. Once Time Passes , it will never come back Give time to your better half to think through the decision, and eventually both stick to same decision, dodnt have regrets later .

Kitna easily advise kiya na aapne ki 6 months India and 6 months UK, but think practically, is it possible with school going Kid (5 year old one), also, we both (my husband and me) works here in UK, which employer will keep giving us so many leaves and take us back on the work. And my son's schooling with this gap (coming and going back)..but again, I'm not sure, what's going to be happen in future, may be after settling my kids here, on my retirement, I'm definitely going to spend time in India..until then, no choice..I've thought about it in each and every prospect, just found this best solution for me..

Now our parents are aging and since children are graduating soon Me and my husband are contemplating to move back But in the even we have started the citizenship process. Mainly to get away with no worry to keep our green card active. But I am just not sure what will we do in India. At least here we are doing some job and have a reason to get up and get ready, especially my husband.

I'm planning to move back to India and searching for videos like this. Me & my husband came to Ireland when we were around 22. After more than a decade living here, we still miss India badly. The good thing is that good chunk of our earnings was spent on buying properties in India from the beginning. So the properties that we bought earlier for decent price are very expensive now. Some of our friends want to go back now but didn't invest in any property in India and its very expensive to buy now, so they are saying they cannot go back. They are also thinking about their kids future. It sometimes creates dilemma in us. We are planning to move to Bangalore. We have a house there. I am thinking of ways which can make our transition easier especially for our kids. Wanted to hear from people who already experienced this. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Similarly, the issue of dark evenings also depends on the specific location. Regarding depression, it varies from person to person, transcending geographical boundaries. The problem is my husband is a scientist/he has his own lab and doing some amazing research here in USA. He thinks he will have to struggle a lot if we move back to India. We are GC holder. This is a great place if you are willing to learn Swedish and get used to the cold (people are also cold here). :-) You will not save a lot of money in Sweden, if that is your priority. During my 20s, I was saving three times more in the US than in Sweden as a software engineer with similar job profile. If you can move to the US, I won't waste my time in Sweden.
