In part 25 of installing a 5.7L Hemi into a Jeep Renegade: I have to fabricate a whole new front end. Bash Bar, Radiator Mounts, Core Support, Headlight Brackets, and I even whip up a custom Grille just for fun. Now the Cooling system can be finished, and we'll be one step closer to firing this thing up for the first time.

UPDATE: First of all, thanks for everyone who has checked in. The past few months have been really tough, dealing with health stuff and just life in general. I haven't really been in the right head space to reply, but I truly appreciate everyone who reached out. Anyways, progress on the Jeep has been slow, only working on the good days that I feel well enough to be out in the garage. I haven't even picked up the camera in like 3 months, but I've been feeling better the last couple weeks, so hopefully more progress videos will be coming soon. Again, thanks for the support, it's really kept me going.

Renegade Menace? 🏁 Or maybe just call it 🔥 I got to work for a garage that won Battle of the Builders within the last 5 years and with what you've done on your own, you have the vision and skill to open a full blown, high-end, custom shop...no question. Thanks man, that really does mean a lot, especially coming from a fellow automotive enthusiast. I'm just an amateur fabricator, but I do really enjoy making things and modifying cars. This is my most ambitious project so far, but it's taught me so much along the way. I would love to eventually have a shop, or at least a garage big enough to have a car and tools in it at the same time 🤣 I imagine once this thing is running and doing the first burnouts, it'll get quite a bit of attention. Mostly I'm just grateful for the people who have been supporting me, and keeping me going on this project. It definitely wouldn't be this far along without y'all pushing me to keep going.

They're actually pretty good little cars for what they are. Like you, I got mine because I liked the overall design of it, and wasn't worried about performance at the time. They're decent on gas and I had zero issues with mine before I chopped it up. Mine was on the first shipment to the US back in 2015, so they've sorted out any potential issues like oil consumption which seemed to plague a lot of early models. It feels really good to get this project even closer to finished. I do plan on installing a ton more lighting on this thing before it's done. I just ordered the 8 gang AR-800 switch panel and 20 of the RGBW rock lights to get the light show started (should look crazy for burnouts). I'd love to use more Auxbeam lights, like 9" off-road lights for the headlights, but unfortunately I couldn't find any that have low beams and high beams, or a dimmable option. I really don't want to blind traffic too much 🤣 Since I can't fit the factory headlight housings anymore with all the modifications, I was kind of forced to use the ones I found.

@HEMIGADE
@HEMIGADE Жыл бұрын
Hell yeah man, just be careful with modifying these things, you might not know when to stop like me lol. I looked into doing a turbo setup on the stock motor, since I figured it would be pretty similar to the SRT4, but from what i could find tuning the ECU was the biggest issue. There was a company a few years ago that offered a kit and tune, but it was like 5K or something. If I could start over on another build I'd probably just do an SRT4 to keep it in the Mopar family and prevent all the fabrication needed to fit a V8, or go Honda K Swap or Chevy Ecotec (since I have a few of those). 250-300hp would be ideal in one of these things, and would make it so much more fun to drive.

@@HEMIGADE the old air ride suspension is the one I was referring to. My jeep is on the SF Racing coilovers, but there is not camber adjustment or barely much I can do, even with the toe angle. How did do your alignment system?

@HEMIGADE
@HEMIGADE Жыл бұрын
@@niccon.7276 Front Suspension: For the camber adjustment, when I made the air struts I made the top spindle bolt slotted so I could lean the wheel in more than just regular drilled holes. As far as front toe adjustment, I was able to dial it in with the stock steering linkage. I think I had to keep the adjustable lower control arms about stock dimensions, because the axle would bind if it got too far out of spec. Rear Suspension: I ended up making my own lower linkages to dial in the toe and kick the bottom of the hub out, and also had the slotted top bolt for the spindle mount. I think the slotted upper bolt holes helped a ton, but having adjustable rear toe links is a must for saving the tires. I couldn't find anyone who makes anything for this, but Valkyrie does make adjustable high clearance rear control arms that might help.

I'm still hanging in there, just been a difficult past few months. I have been feeling better lately, so hopefully i can jump back into this project soon. I have a ton of parts gathered since I last posted, so at least there's plenty of work to do lol. Thanks for checking in though, it means a lot.

Does anyone have any news about Mike? The last time he posted a comment was 3 months ago and there has been no news from him since then. Maybe his health has deteriorated as he hasn't even claimed his KZbin username?

Thanks for checking in. I'm actually doing a lot better, and have been spending a couple hours a day the past week or so actually working on this thing. Mostly just tightening up loose ends and cleaning up the mess I left the project in, but I'm finally making progress again. It does feel good to get back to work on something, and hopefully I'll have another video up soon.

@@HEMIGADEI'm so happy to hear back from you, I was really worried. That's awesome news! I can't wait to see more updates and exciting progress. Your project is really cool, and I'm super excited about it!

Frigging beautiful work bro... im always waiting on your videos. I only follow DDE, whistling diesel, and you! I love your content. I ticks me off that not enough people are subscribing so you can make more content. I was wondering... I might look cool too if you add the same mesh that your facia has on the rings, to the rings you made. Idk, maybe a little something to make it look more "full" whenever you do drive without that bumper cover. Regardless, it looks badass!

And yeah, im a few weeks late, but now that I'm working in the oil field, I hardly have time to kill on the phone. Lol Anyway... hope all is well brother

@@hazetrinity66 Thanks man, I really do appreciate it! Hopefully once I get this thing running it'll get some more attention, so I can continue to push the limits with this build. There's still so much to do before it gets to where I really want the build to be, but it's going to be a process getting there. You might be onto something, a little mesh would really set off the grille so it doesn't disappear quite so much with everything going on. I feel ya on the work stuff (oil refinery), there's hardly any time to get any progress done in the garage, and with the lift being outside I'm pretty much shut down with any weather or once the sun goes down. Weekends are just about all the chances I've gotten lately, and it's rained the past 5 Saturdays here. Anyways, thanks for following along so far, and for the encouragement to get this thing done!

@@HEMIGADE @Mike Martin @Mike Martin yeah man, always! Its pretty cool that you take your time to reply. I know you replied to most of my comments, and I missed one to reply back to you, but I don't want to go through all your videos and comments to find it. Regardless, you've got a shit ton of work done. The best part is that you seem to have all the goodies (tools). Thats dope. How you make that plasma cutter? Would be a cool little video to work on as well, in between your jeep vids. I'm sure I can find something on here, but I prefer watching your content, as I'm sure other do too. Yeah, it'll be pretty cool if you add that or something to the rings. I told my dad about you and your channel a few months ago, explaining what you were up to. So if you do add something, I'll tell my dad, "look! I made that suggestion, and he actually did it." Haha... its whatever though. I can't wait to hear it and watch it run! That thing is frigging badass! Now that I remember, I think I had mentioned something about the nitto 555 g2 tires, how they were trash... I was wrong. For one, your tires are wider than mine. I've got 275/35. And second, my shit was out of alignment because of my worn out rear shocks. They're original, and I like to swing the car lol. So my tires look great from the outside, almost new. But the inside on the tires were all worn to shit, with cables sticking out. Both from and rear. 🤦‍♂️ I had to buy all 4 recently. Hahaha, now it hooks better, but I need shocks all around. Those toyo r888 I mentioned would be over kill for my ride, but you'll probably need them in the future. Say man, you work in a refinery!? Why not build a little shed man! You're a diy'er. Make a video on that shit too! Its content and won't be that expensive. Lol. I would just do the roof to start, or set 4 post, and find a way to weave a heavy duty tarp. Stop playing around hahaha.. I kid... I know you've got priorities. I'm just saying so you can pump out more content, if thats what kills your progress. Alright, I'll stop right here... again, thanks for taking your time to reply. Stay blessed 🤙

@@hazetrinity66 Yeah man, I try to keep up with replying to comments, since you guys take time out of your day to reach out, but I do get pretty forgetful sometimes. I do enjoy collecting tools, because I hate not being able to do something or relying on someone else to make parts for me. That's the main reason I started building the CNC plasma table. The table base was built from 2x2 and 2x3 square tubing, all the other parts (linear rails and bearings, stepper motors, control system, stepper drivers, power supplies, switches, etc.) were all pieced together from eBay. I did have to make the Z Axis and gantry for the plasma and router cutters though. It should also be able to cut wood and stuff, but I've never ran it with the router attachment. This thing took me a few years, and a couple different revisions to get here, but it still isn't that great. The program I use to control the motors (Mach3) has been acting up, and just decides to start cutting before it gets to where it should. I have to have my hand on the kill switch ready to stop it. Once I figure out what's wrong I'll probably do a walk through and a build break down on it. I've tried so many things to fix it, but nothing seems to work. I'll have to figure out how to add some mesh to the grille, since I already painted it. I might just have to weld some mesh in there, and re-paint it, or figure out how to bolt some onto the mounting bracket. That's good to know, I don't really have a ton of experience with tires and performance, coming mostly from stance and FWD stuff. I did order a set of Weld wheels, so new beefier rear tires are coming soon, just have to decide on which tires to go with (looking at Nitto NT 555 RII Tires N108-740 P305/45R18). I'm hoping to be able to put the power down and see what it'll do. The build started off just to have fun and do burnouts, but I think this thing might actually have potential to be fast. I do have a concrete slab behind my garage that had a little roof, but last year's hurricane took that down. I've been meaning to rebuild it, and might as well put walls up too, for a little more working area. I really need to wall in my carport area too, and put up some garage doors, so I can have even more room to work on stuff. Finding the time to work on household projects is always difficult, like if there's free time why not work on cars lol.

Thanks! This is just a hobby for now, but there's something about fabrication that's really rewarding. It's great starting out with raw materials and making a vision come to life.
