In this episode the Hemi swapped 1970 Challenger is back and it's getting a huge upgrade - 12.19" rotors and 4 piston calipers on all four corners. I install a Wilwood big brake for the front and rear. The front has its factory 11" rotor, single-piston disc brakes upgraded and the rear gets it's original drum brakes replaced with the lightweight kit from Wilwood. I weigh the OEM Chrysler disc brakes vs the Wilwood brakes and see what kind of weight savings I'm getting. I also use my Motive power brake bleeder for bleeding the brakes and prob vale. I also set up brake bias with the Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve. I get to test the Mopar brake kit and see how it stacks up to original Dodge brakes.

I have a 73 with a 340 4 speed that has almost the exact same color scheme going on. Love watching your videos. I’ll be taking on some of these projects in the near future.

I don't know I found the advertisement I haven't checked to see if they're still in business but they had badass motors for this car for only sixteen hundred bucks😂😊 ready to go sure it's old but for a brand-new beefed-up old one you can't beat that

Awsome job, looks great. Stopping is important. I have a 2010 Challenger R/T Classic. I did an SRT Brembo swap. Stopping is good lol

Thanks man, 100% agreed. I hear the Brembos are a solid upgrade, and I love the look of the fresh calipers.

You are by far one of my favorite accounts on KZbin now, how do you not have more views? These videos are not only very interesting and entertaining but very very informative. I recently bought a project 70’ challenger to sit beside my 68’ coronet and I’ll be coming to your videos a lot to help me and give me confidence in my restoration as I’m swapping in a 6.4 hemi, keep on making this awesome content!!

Snazzy 👍 I personally would have gone with the red ones to make them pop behind the wheels and also theyd match really close to your body color. Different strokes for different folks 😂

Love it man, yet again a great in depth video. The biggest thing i've learned from you is to get a car where you can actually get parts for! I've got a Nissan Cherry 1.5 GL from '86. Absolutely no parts findable for that in the EU. I'd love to drop in an engine with injection, and do a disk brake swap in the rear, like you. Not sure if i'll be able to sadly. Great vid, looking forward to the next!

Thanks! I had to look up the Nissan Cherry, those things are sweet! It gives me an AE86 vibe. Definitely makes life easier when parts are easy to get, or at least similar models to steal parts from.

Half way through the video I'm glad I watched it now 🤣. And that reminds me exactly of something that we were just talking about and when I had the transmission throttle linkage converted over and updated I had to make a part 😊 and today you've got 10 different ways to make that same part a better car part. And it's because the old throttle linkage had to do with springs and 🪝 hooks all of the new throttle linkage has have to do with cables. And whenever you buy the new one that attaches to the transmission then it doesn't hook up to the new carburetor. Which is why they have gone even further now and then the whole new system EFI 😊 and I haven't looked at it yet but I'm pretty sure I can even get an electronic mini barrel and put a six-pack of electronic many barrels on top instead of 😂 nafi that looks like carburetor ha ha ha ! And I can't remember when we first replace our master cylinder for the brake system it was the original master cylinder that's a guy had rebuilt because he was a hydraulics mechanic actually.

that challenger is badass!! I have a 67 dart with disc brakes from a 73 challenger. Id like to do this upgrade but every kit i find says i need the magnum force spindles.......yet i cant find them. it looks like you used your stock spindles (of which i should have on my dart), do you have the kit number for the front brake kit?
@noboltsleftbehind
@noboltsleftbehind 2 ай бұрын
Thanks man! The Wilwood kit is part number 140-15468 and yes they are stock spindles, though I want to say they were from a later year Challenger, maybe a '73 or '74. I think the diameters are a bit different between years.

What are the break lines you used? I tried contacting summit racing, they told me the lines would have to be made?, I'm currently slowly working on a 1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye, It would be awesome if you could list links for the parts used or at least name them, that would be a huge help finding compatible parts, thank you!
@noboltsleftbehind
@noboltsleftbehind 3 ай бұрын
I just used the factory lines, I got some stainless steel ones from Inline Tube. I had to bend the rear axle lines a bit but they work fine. For the rear I didn't bother using a rubber intermediate line, just the hard lines straight into the calipers.

Are those rear brake lines you installed stock replacements? Did they match up to new calipers without modifications?
@noboltsleftbehind
@noboltsleftbehind 9 ай бұрын
Yes, they’re the stock drum brake hard lines and they plugged right in with a little custom bending. You just need an adapter for the caliper.

@@acardiac5983 noticeably better, but I wouldn't say a massive difference if you already have power front discs. Weight savings on the front wheels was definitely noticeable though.
