Henna expert, Khadija is reacting to yet another ‪@BradMondo‬ video about henna! This time, it's reacting inception. Two years ago,, Brad reacted to a few creators using henna and gave us his full opinion. However, more recently, he has done another video where he actually tries henna and is so much more open-minded. I am so grateful that this has sparked a conversation about henna, and we also will cover cultural misconceptions about henna that seem to be floating around the internet.

What I dislike so much about his video was how disrespectful he was. He did very little research and didn't understand how culturally important henna is and has been throughout history. I think bad henna has given pure henna a bad reputation. If we called it plant base hair color, would he have given it a chance?

@@lovesdogs8616 I love Brad, but he was a total ass in this video. I was shocked. He talked over the first girl, he talked about her breasts, and her clothes/shut shamed her, he was incredibly close minded. I would never have believed that it was him if his twin wasn't in the beginning of the video. I think he was going for Sassy but he just came off as Nasty, I watched that video on his channel and couldn't believe it.

I truly respect the culture and history of henna and natural hair care and thats why im no longer dying my hair with chemicals and im choosing henna,amla,and teas to give me a Rich Deep and lusturious brown with tones of red hair color! ive also gotten multiple questions at my church about my hair color and hair health and one of them has become hooked on henna from Hennasooq! Its sustainable, its affordable, my hair is at its BEST health ive ever had in my life (even my husband said "this is the longest ive ever seen your hair) so whats not to love!!!!!!!!! lol sorry about this rant

I was high key annoyed. I’m so glad Khadija is addressing this misinformation. When I get my hair cut I can still to this day hear a pin drop and side eyes all around in the my salon when they ask me what I color my hair with. Brad and Hyram are the ambassadors of beauty don’t ya know. Hmm 🤔 I wonder what they have in common. I’ll behave here because Khadija is so lovely and positive. 😂

I think the problem is that his entire vibe is changing your entire hair color like monthly and doing things that cause a lot of damage and using a lot of product to fix it. So henna, which is both permanent and low maintenance, goes really against it.

I have a hairstylist sister-in-law that doesn’t understand why I love herbal hair care but it’s the smell of earthiness that warm hair tea smell and texture is just mesmerizing to me 🥰 it’s funny she will often mock the routine but later without remembering what I do she’ll say DAMN your hair is so shiny and that color is amazing on you?! 😂 I was using chemicals for years and it killed my hair and scalp in a way mother earth save me from that I showed my true potential and I’ll never look back again. I am allergic to chemical colours and almost 100 percent grey. Henna does an amazing job. Henna outlasts chemical by a country mile. Have to do it less often and the shine lasts forever. Chemical dye is so dull after the first week. Also you dont get that hard regrowth line.

Can I just share my story? I can tell you that my henna was so much better when I was using henna. I went to a colorist last year because I wanted subtle lights and they completely ruined my hair. My hair became weaker drier and broke off. I cried afterwards. I had healthy long curly hair before. Im going back to using henna treatments for my hair again. The hair stylists dont know what to do with henna hair and so they strip all your natural hair color which is incredibly damaging and it weakens you hair. Henna has long term benefits while hair coloring with chemicals only short term benefits with long term damage. Id rather invest the time and energy to do treatments for long term benefits for my hair. Henna is beautiful, its natural and had been used for centuries before chemical colors came along. Dont get me wrong, Im not against anyone wanting bleach in their hair, I just dont wanna do that to mine any longer. I love the way my hair feels with henna afterwards. Its rejuvenating and totally worthit! Thank You for educating people about it.

If it's pure henna, same, layer it on with the box stuff. I do think it makes oxidative dye come out a shade darker, but so does layering oxidative dye on oxidative dyes. If in doubt, strand test.

You seem like a lovely person ! I really like your calm demeanour throurought this video (and the other you reacted to). Overall, in my life I'm not really in favour of the "natural is better"/"chemicals are bad" arguments, as there are plenty of synthetic things that are more refined and safer. But even then, when it comes to hair colouring I think henna has a lot of advantages over synthetic hair dyes. If someone really wants to bleach and dye their hair often, I can understand why they may go down the synthetic route, but otherwise henna is just better.

I've been watching both of you for a long time, and I've used your henna products in my hair (also love!!!) and I'd like to eventually try his products as well. Henna definitely deserves to get just as much attention as regular hair dye, I really think its unfair that its not taught in beauty schools. My sister in law is a cosmetologist and wasnt taught anything about henna is afraid to give it a try. She's only familiar with the negative side 😢 I really, REALLY, hope you and Brad eventually do a collaboration video ❤️❤️❤️ sending love to you and your amazing products 😘

I used to henna my hair (talking around a decade ago here, with the boxes of Jamilla). I only ever did it with plain tap water (from water supply with very soft water and no chlorine), and I never actually bothered leaving it for a couple of hours before using it. I never had an issue with a lack of colour from doing it that way. I stopped using it years ago, but I might give it a go again.

Interesting, I found my grandma's grey hairs very easy to cover, but I think it might run in our family that our hair picks up dyes a lot. She was doing mine purple at home one time and there was extra dye so I did hers as well. Her natural hair colour was a very, very dark brown, almost black. It looked great as the white hairs were super bright. I very much can't wait to have my hair go white as it's very dark and I don't want to ruin it with bleaching, but very much want bright hair colours. But she didn't have whiter spots, it was very evenly distributed between her darker hairs (she usually dyed it dark brown or black to hide the white). I could see more spotty white hair being annoying in that sense. I can't wait to do different bright colours, but I'm only 27 and only have like 3 white hairs.
@TheHestya
@TheHestya 3 жыл бұрын
Also, what is his obsession with specific colours? Like, I get that hairdressers that do showrooms and stuff need super precise tones, but most people that get their hair dyed (especially people that do it at home) just want a red or a purple or a brown. Like. People don't want the one specific red tone out of billions of reds that exist. And using boxed dye (which is what you'd use at home) doesn't allow for super tone choices either, companies don't sell 500 different reds in drugstores. The number of choices is even more limited if you want vegan hair dyes, which is a whole different nightmare as only now companies are catering to that.

There were health benefits for me when I stopped using oxidative (standard) hair dye. I didn't know I was becoming very allergic to it, that's why my scalp tingled and itches. Plus my hair grows much faster and thicker now. Oxidative dye actually damaged my scalp, probably inflammation, so my hair didn't grow as well. Unfortunately PPD, the main tint in many standard hair dyes is a potent allergen. I used to just take that itching and irritation for granted as part of the process.

Truth is, I like to color my hair myself either with henna or color but myself, every time that I go to the hair salon I feel that the professional is not listening to me, I normally don’t like the color when I go to the hair salon, that is because they normally think that my undertones are to warm and it’s not, it’s olive, meaning green, and in the most I gets better with a slightly cool tones than warmer tones, and I can ajustes the henna with indigo for that more cool shade or at least neutral like 50% / 50%

I use natural henna powder to color my greying hair & I love it very much. No fuzz. Just add water, leave the mixture for a night, then apply it the next morning with my fingers. Yes, my very fingers. Let the henna sit on my hair for 3-4 hours, wash my hair thoroughly, then I have shining & soft brown reddish hair. It lasts long. Simply beautiful. But I have to reapply once a month, as the root part will show the grey color. As for my hands? No worries. I think back in the day henna products were mixed with metals (the first girl reviewed in the video also talked about that) that's why there were used to be weird reactions. I guess some brands they still do it, but I don't know any, to be true.
@jessicah3450
@jessicah3450 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's not henna's fault that people were mixing it with metals, sand, and other stuff that's not henna. The worst I've heard is the black henna that they actually mixed with PPD, which is the stuff commonly found in oxidative hair dye. It made people very allergic, but it was the PPD, which is a petroleum by-product, not the henna.

Brad is so disrespectful! I had my hair professionally dyed a red brown and it’s terrible! Talk about multi colors! Red roots and brown locks. It looks terrible and I blame it on the dye as all my other dye jobs from this lady were fine. So now I will try henna and indigo after seeing your channel. I’ve learned so much from you! Thanks❤

Khadija, kindly I have a question that I will truly appreciate if you responded to 😊 I made hennah paste with coffee, cinnamon, honey & dark cocoa then left it overnight in kitchen in order to apply it the next day but I had a circumstance that made me travel so I kept it in fridge for the time I was away and now I'm back and it's been 10 days.. Can I still apply it to my hair or it's no longer efficient? Thanks a million XO

My hair is justa naturally bad and broken and thin so I don’t want to add chemicals I’m more so Interested in the thickning properties of Hannah then the colour, my hairs jet black as it is so I’m trying henna hoping it makes my hair stronger and maybe down the line noticeably thicker. I don’t mind the lack of consistency in colour might even be a little fun so long as I don’t dislike the colour outright.

I’m playing catch-up on all the Henna-Sooq videos so have not seen this video before. Just a quick note - Blonde Brad says that he has never used henna before (this video was before he used henna on the hair doll video where he has blue hai ). He says in this (blonde hair) video that when clients come in for colour or bleach, and when he uses foils, he has seen them swell up (I assume the bleach foils) and almost explode. I don’t think that he is talking about henna swelling up foils. 🤓

You have to know about Brad …. although he is sooooo entertaining …. he markets to young teens who destroy their hair and dye it crazy colors. And what he says about consistently getting the exact color with hair dyes is not true at all. Just not true. The color on the box will 99% of the time NOT be the color your hair turns out to be. The Brad crowd is not at all interested in natural, but they are a really fun crowd.

I currently have henna on my hair for the first time and man is the application process a nightmare! I have naturally curly hair that must have conditioner and the instructions say to shampoo your hair but no conditioner. My hair was so hard to separate to get the henna fully on and it was quite painful. Am I the only one that experienced this?!

I had the same issue but then I experimented with different shampoos. Basically I learned if I used a shampoo that suits my hair I don’t even need any conditioner and is better than a bad shampoo with conditioner. (For reference my hair is long, mostly curly but kinky at the crown).

Watching this hurts. He contradicts himself so much. Even regular color is more vibrant at first and the stylist tells you after a couple days/ a wash or two it’ll settled / fade. ALSO, to say that Demi permanent color doesn’t damage is not true. You have to use 10 vol developer which is a peroxide that can damage your hair … idk his lack of knowledge is painful and I think people shouldn’t talk about things they don’t know…

I don’t know why people are praising you for bashing someone who admitted they never learn anything about this in cosmetology school, he’s just REACTING to videos of people colouring their hair with henna, as Professional hair dresser… it’s a reaction video, not an informational video… Just because he doesn’t like it, so he doesn’t understand why people opt for henna, doesn’t mean he’s saying it’s bad or anything. He just doesn’t like it. This reaction to hair colouring isn’t unique to that video, he often comments on wanting to see dimensions in hair, with people colouring their hair with other products as well🤷🏻‍♀️ I learn a lot from ur video tho, I would love to use henna, I naturally have red in my hair n would love to deepen it, I don’t wanna go red tho😂😇so I probably won’t be using henna if I colour my hair 😔
