Tips: -Wash your hair first. -Prepare your henna as a thick yoghurt consistency -Leave it in the hair for 3-4 Hours for peak dye release -Heat and Steaming the hair can help the henna penetrate into the hair shafts. (potentially cutting the 3-4 hour dye sitting time in half) -Henna can loosen the curl pattern, but amla and Zizyphus Powder can help keep your natural curl pattern -Henna will dye your surfaces like your towels, too. - if you have grey hair and are doing root touch ups, you may need to add indigo powder to darken the orangey tones that grey hair picks up from henna. -You dont really need to let your henna sit overnight, what matters is how long it sits on your hair (3-4 hours) - Henna Oxidizes into the color it'll actually be. The original color you see after rinsing it out is not the final color. -Don't overuse henna, use it to strengthen your hair as needed. Alternative treatments in the interim (2-3 months) include fenugreek, aloe, zizyphus, amla, Rhassoul Clay, hibiscus rinses, etc. -people with fine hair may need to mix their henna with amla -

In Iraq where henna is commonly used, usually you mix it with hot water, tea,coffee, kujarat tea, or chamomile tea mayby even beet water and let it sit few hours. You can add eggplant peel, green walnut meaty peel ( this has a natural brown dye and women used to use it as a semi permenant lip tint oh! And pomegranate peel . You can be creative with what you add like onion juice,oils (not too much though) There is this wives' tale that you should avoid using henna or any hair dye when you are on your period because your hair won't take the color as well as it should, just a fun piece of information

I am 45 and have been applying henna on my hair for over 30 years. I have never stopped doing it. I have a lot of gray hair so I do the rrots every second week, and do the complete hair every 6 weeks. I wait two hours, that's perfectly enough for me since I already have multiple layers on my hair. I have a very rich and natural looking copper colour, many people think I'm a natural redhead. And yes, it does relax the curls in a very nice way. I will never give up my henna ritual. ❤

I used henna consistently for about 3 years. My hair is medium porosity and occasionally heat styled and it was so easy to treat. I never got heat damage or split ends, my wash day was a breeze. Then I moved to a hard water country and didn’t bring any henna with me, I regret it. My hair is not only wrecked by the hard water damage but it got significantly weaker with only 1 year of no henna treatments!! I didn’t know these two factors made such a difference in my hair regimen

I love this video. I have fine hair with medium density. I've been using Henna to cover my gray for about 4 yrs. I used the Nupur Henna in the video before exclusively using Henna Sooq products. I agree somewhat with the last user from Trinidad. I did noticed that I needed to keep up with triming my ends while using Henna. I stopped using Henna regularly on my ends. Now, I alternate using Henna on my whole head then my roots every other month or two. I also increased my moisturizing deep conditioner for 2-3 weeks after my Henna treatments. Henna by itself is a strong Ayurvedic herb and mimics a protein treatment. I recently started adding 1 tablespoon of Alma powder to my Henna mixture. This routine has been working for me, especially since adding Indigo to cover my gray hair black. I don't usually comment on YT videos. Since this video, pop-up in my feed, I felt the need to share. I hope someone can take away something from my experience. I hope this will helps someone. Note: Maybe use pure Henna for a few months. Then use Nupur Henna mixture inbetween for the other herb benifits. Best of luck on your Henna journey❣️

I have been using henna for more than a decade. I typically use brewed coffee to activate it because I like to tone down the red just a bit. I also add conditioner, cassia and EVOO to my mix. I let mine sit overnight for dye release. As long as I don’t put anything with protein or coconut oil immediately after the henna I don’t have any problems with it feeling hard.

@@user-ee2qq4hp3z yep. It went from basically the texture of these women’s hair to almost a 2 in some areas. My sister thinks I’m secretly texturizing it. I thought it was from using Eco styler or maybe hormones/grey. TBH I just always wore my hair natural and just made do with watery conditioner, jerri juice, gels and whatever mess there was in the 80’s. I always thought of elderly Indians with the shoe polish black or carrot orange on white hair. That 4:1 hendigo makes my greys a burgundy or in bright light almost a cherry red on the white ones. I have fine, high porosity type 4 hair and I love henna. I only had one bad experience and it was my fault because I slept in it over night 😬!! Such a no no for kinky hair. I noticed the breakage when rinsing but I didn't panic. I just deep conditioned for a couple of days, and laid off the henna for a while, and just used conditioning hair masks like fenugreek. I waited 12 weeks or so before my next henna treatment.

@@shaenalawyer I make mine ahead and freeze it since it swells up so much. I use the powder kind and mix with warm water, an oil or hair butter, and maybe essential oil. Then I blend it well with a hand blender and freeze it in soap molds. When ready to use just warm on stove using double boil method or let it sit out to melt. When applying as mask, I usually mix with amla, rose or hibiscus powder. Leaving it on for an hour or so.

Same experience. My grey is going white and the henna applied turns red. Looks like an ombre , as the color darkens over time! I used aloe in the mixture as Khadija suggested, but my hair did pull more orange and dry (?) , so I have to use coffee as the main liquid to get the henna processing and made fenugreek infused oil. Thanks for the note about how long to leave the dye release in the video as I thought the longer the better and I was wrong.

I'm afraid to do the one step process. I've always did henna (with a little amla) first and leave on for 4 to 6 hours and rinse. Then wait and mix and apply indigo (add a pinch of salt) and apply and sit for another 4 to 6 hrs or depending time of day go to sleep. After rinsing I do not apply anything to my hair especially not any oils. Tried the LCO/LOC once and after all the hard work a lot of the color went down the drain. So I don't apply anything to my hair for at least 2 days after and then I shampoo and conditioner. "I know it boggles your mind doesn't it? But the black that I am trying to achieves seems to last longer. I used to henna/indigo every 6 to 8 weeks (roots only). I haven't applied either since pre covid (late 2019). I am so glad I came across your channel. I plan on doing it this weekend and may try the one step and if not dark enough I can then add another treatment of Indigo only. Will also add aloe vera powder. Thank you!

Popping off all over the place. As soon as I rinsed the henna out I felt like the integrity of my hair was rinsed out as well. I'm getting a major trim soon. Hellow. I just wanted to share my experience with Henna. I have a nougatbrown (light brown ) color naturally. I used chemical dyes maybe 3 times in my life but they never catch on my hair. But I did use Hena , red hena, very often to just give a highlight of red to my brown hair. I always loved it. It stayed for very long time and I love the way it looks in the sun. Now I am 28 and I have alot (like 20) whitehairs in front of my head.maybe they are not so many but are very visible. Now I use Hena and Indigo color, or KHADI color to cover that, I stayed until now with natural dyes and , is for sure harder to cover gray , but my hair dosnt look damaged. I love the Henna ritual, the way it smells, the pasty nonchemical smell like tea, for me reminds me of macha tea, maybe because of the green color. ❤ I think Henna is amaizing. I hope I can use just this for future, to cover my gray hairs. I hope will not be too hard. Is someone that has more experience with covering grey hairs here? Some tips? ❤ thank you so much

@@HennaSooq my henna mixture did contain oils. I didn’t mix aloe because aloe made my hair dry (I know weird) so I didn’t mix it w my henna. My henna mixture: henna, Amal, 1 egg, strong coffee, oil(olive, grape seed or coconut), coconut milk and some cinnamon. Kept it on over night or for 4-5 hours. I stopped doing henna treatments 2 years ago since my hair got super thick and long. My grays started coming in so I started using hair dye to cover my grays and have been using it w no issues for 2 years. I use Olia ammonia free. After 2 years, I am back doing henna treatments using henna, Amal, conditioner and egg because I went through a traumatic event 6months ago and started losing my hair. I do henna 1 week then the hair dye the following week, I do the hair dye every 2 weeks because my hair grows so fast.

I never get light roots when I do a touch up. I always leave it on for a minimum of 6 hrs and turns out even with the ends regardless of brand. But if I rinse out after 4 or 5 hours I wind up with that cooked roots look. Been hennaing for 5 years now.

OMGOSH, I have fine baby looking hair. Henna makes my hair feel great at 1st but she’s right. My edges and ends are frayed. I color my roots and edges to color the gray and new growth. I didn’t know henna acts like protein. My hair is low porosity and can’t take a lot of protein. I’m thinking maybe coating my old hair with conditioner before using henna?. I’m tired of the orangy color so I added indigo. It still came out rust this time. I used like half and half one step process. 2 hours with a dryer and 1 hour without. Still RUST. I wanted a light kinda brown 😩. So I don’t want my ends and edges to break anymore. I’m not feeling the rust/orange. I’m about to just coat it with just the indigo and see what happens. Send some prayers for me and my baby hairs 🥰

When I apply my henna each time I do my whole head because I want to benefits on all my hair, not just the roots. Is there a way I can get the hair closer to my scalp to be that same rich red or will that only come from frequent applications? I henna my hair every 8 weeks.

Its possible that your ends are technically lighter than your natural color at the roots because the ends have been exposed to the sun longer and that slowly bleaches hair. Back when I had my only natural hair and very very long it was brown all the way except the tips that were light brown / copper

My hair is sensitive to protein and too much protein without enough moisture makes my hair brittle so it snaps off and breaks more easily. Henna has that effect on my hair so I don't use it too often and usually stick to more moisturizing treatments. I imagine that's what happened with the woman who experienced damage from using henna too often.
@3naturalsbyJae

With “protein sensitivity” its more you are using the wrong type of protein treatment☺️ hair is made up of keratin protein so it technically cannot be protein sensitive❤
@thefoolmountain9481
@thefoolmountain9481 8 ай бұрын
I have very course dry hair, which is naturally higher in protein and lower in moisture. Adding more protein can make my hair brittle because its adding too much strength to my already strong hair, what I need more is moisture and elasticity. This is what I know about my own hair based on experimentation and experience! There's a lot of contradictory information on the internet but nothing beats listening to your own hair and watching how it responds to things! Hope this helps ❤@@3naturalsbyJae

Just reviewing some of your videos again as my henna processes. Culprit could be protein-overload or lack of moisture-protein balance. Another variable could be hard water. I have fine strands too and have experienced protein overload (not due to Henna). WRT Henna, I apply approximately every 6 weeks and on the lead up, I make sure to not use products especially conditioners and deep conditioners with proteins. Keeping a hair journal is very helpful. I track protein and Henna use in my planner.
