Here is the set of German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn on Dave's One Night Stand. It's a little unknown fact but Henning and the night's host Reg D Hunter grew up together in Edinburgh.

"I initially planned to stay in the UK for only 12 months to improve my English, but the good weather, the tasty food and the classy women made me stay. In order to blend in with the locals, I decided to get extremely lazy, spend money I don't have and, most importantly, to unjustifiably bang on about my great sense of humour. This is why I decided 1,646 days, nine hours and 42 minutes ago to try my hand at stand-up and become the German Comedy Ambassador.", I detect a hint of sarcasm in what Henning said...

As a German, I didn't know Henning Wehn at all. But yesterday, King Charles spoke in German in the Bundestag (very impressive) and praised Henning as an intercultural ambassador. Rightly so. What a great guy!

He is a classic example of a German massively playing up to the ‘German stereotype’ of not being funny, whilst simultaneously being funny as fk. The way German football clubs use their social media is another great example of German humour at its best. Imagine living in London and speaking English with a Kat Slater accent 😂 He’s a hidden gem, so under-rated.

What's up with his accent? I don't get it, sounds like a made up accent. Irritating af for me as a German native 🤔

I sometimes feel sorry for Henning because I feel he's marginalized in Britain as a symbol of post war nationalist humor but then I see how much he enjoys really taking it to the edge and kicking the audience off. Hats off to him.

I recommend looking on KZbin for the bit Stewart Lee does about Scotland to a Scottish audience. He takes insulting a nationality to a whole new level. He has a bit about Americans, too, but I don't think he's done it to an American audience.
@replicas118 жыл бұрын
+Jakob Boller Yep I've seen that and it's toe curlingly funny, he does it by stealth and watching the audience laugh at certain points they agree with then he actually gets to the point of what he is saying and the mood change its so funny because they knew they been caught out. The guy who tries to correct him about him being Scotch man is fucking hilarious. A comedy genius at work, and to be fair the audience ( most of em) took it well.

I saw him live, and some audience were miserable b'tards. He was talking in funny way about life as immigrant. He said what kind of image do those people camping in Calais have of Britain? They could have asylum in France (he wouldn't want to do that to them), but they would rather camp there to get to Britain. Is their image from watching Downton Abbey, when it's more like Steptoe and Son? Audience sat there looking angry & I thought who hasn't sense of humour now?

In the 1600's, German Catholics and German Protestants were also kicking the shit out of each other over religion, it wasn't just an Irish/Scottish thing. The difference is that the Germans were the first to realise how bloody stupid that was and they left it in the seventeenth century. (rather than have the Thirty Years War become a Thirty-One Years War and ultimately a Three Hundred And Thirty Years War).

to find it funny, please follow the following steps. 1. Stop being an overly offended with everything. 2. Grow a sense of humour, if you cant, then there are ways to commit suicide you can find online. 3. many book stores keep reading materials called "Humour for Dummies" use it as light reading fro when ever you gettime to imporve your personality. 4. stop clenching your ass. youll feel more relaxed about everything in likfe. 5. refer to the definition of "Joke". they ar enot meant to be taken seriously. 6. people who it happened to are dead. the person who cased the damage is dead. there is no point crying over it 50 years later. wake your self up, dust yourself off, and worry about more important problems in the world than a bloody fucking joke. if you follow these steps correctly, (does not have to be in any particular order). you wil find the joke eventually funny. regards
