I was in the middle of building an AR-15 with an adapter to shoot 22 LR. After all the hassle in Maryland, I decided to put my builds on hold until I more out of state. While I was being educate by the nice guy at the Gun shop about licenses, restrictions, gun courses, etc. I decided to just buy a Henry 22 LR. My wife balked at the price but after she saw the beat up alternatives she caved in. A brand new Golden Boy looks so much nicer than the used items that were within our $300 budget. So I walked away with a $500 rifle even though I could have probably got it for about $70 less. As long as my wife doesn't know, I'm OK. Also, I feel good for giving the local gun shop some business. I brought it homey Golden Boy and put a few tubes through it and it was extremely accurate for my 64 year old eyes using the iron sights. I've been an air gun shooter for about 8 years and this is my first powder burner. I love how quiet the Henry GB is with 22 short ammo! It is actually quieter than some of my airguns! The next adventure is making sure I can clean and lube this great piece of engineering so it last through generations.

The Henry .22 lever action rifles are a joy to shoot, just bought my 2nd Henry a Golden Boy Silver, smooth as butter action. The tube magazine is nice. Henry rifles are well made. Couldn't be happier.

Excellent presentation. It was well organized and well paced. I finally got myself a lever action rifle and chose Henry because it is made in the USA, it is well made, and reliable. When choosing a rifle I think that if competition shooting, or hunting is the primary use then a rifle shooting a small grouping is important. If plinking and basic rifle use and safety instruction, especially for kids like my grandsons ages 8 and 12, the Henry is ideal. Like my old Henry Ford's Model A's it is simple, reliable, and fun to use. Between me shooting, and my wife, my kids and their spouses, and the grandsons I don't think a Henry can be beat, either in a rifle or an antique car.

Great video, just an FYI on Hoo1 the basic model. It was my first Henry. I acquired it in the late 90”s and currently have in excess of 27 bulk packs (500 reds each )from Walmart through it with out a single issue. It is all original and no internal parts have worn out or been replaced. I now have three more rimfires and a couple centerfires . I am told their customer service is top notch, although I’m quite sure I will never need to send one back and find out. Again great video and happy shooting, I’m sure you will enjoy them.

The front sight looks like it's made of plastic in the manual but it's not plastic al all. It's steel. The way it's designed makes it look like plastic. It is made in two halves and it has a screw in the bottom to hold the two halves together. They had to add some steel down there to allow for the screw. Again, it is not PLASTIC!

I've had zero accuracy issues on small game with the iron sights. I've shot rabbits at 50yds with the standard #H001, no problems. Scopes are nice, but don't poo poo the irons, if you do your part, they'll do theirs.

Thanks, a very good video. The Marlin 39A was my 1st lever action 22, which I still have. The Winchester 94-22 is another great all steel lever rifle. If Henry would wise up and make their Frontier lever action in all steel, I would buy one instantly. PS, I also can't believe that nobody is making an all steel replica of the Remington rolling block 22, another great classic.

I wish Henry employed real steel and brass in their rimfire rifles. But they never will because it's not cost effective. Their .22s have been major sellers, so there's no reason why they'd employ those materials in the manufacture when it would up the cost of the manufacturing process and thus the retail price of the gun. Will a Zamac-5 receiver and receiver cover hold up as well as steel? In .22 rifles, probably.

I have this gun in a youth model. It makes the handiest lil carbine. This is what I did... First I put sling swivels on... A rifle without a sling is like a pistol without a holster Next I leather wrapped the lever...So comfortable... big difference Went with that for a while Then a little later I ordered the saddle ring receiver cover Now It looks as sweet as it shoots I put a strip of leather on the ring so I can stop the ring from slamming against the receiver as I walk I can hang on to strip of leather and with my lever hand

Funny how a magnet sticks to the " plastic" front sights on my Henry standard 22 model H001 and my 8 year 9ld Daughters Henry Youth model H001Y. Oh, the Golden boy receivers are not solid brass like the Big boy models. The barrel band and receivers on the Golden boy are made of Brasslite which is a durable proprietary brass plated alloy covered with a clear coating to protect the shine of the Plating. the interior portion of the reciever is an alloy casting fitted with a Brasslite plate to match the reciever cover. I find that they mar too easily for my liking so I prefer the standard blue steel plating on the 22's great American made lever guns altogether . I own many and plan to add to my collection . safe shootin to ya!

Have an H001 myself, works like a charm, the stock iron sights are not terribly precise though, you're right on that. I run an inexpensive scope on mine because of this. Accuracy is good, I'm a beginner shooter and it performs well for me and i've got room to improve with it. I shoot mine with about 2 moa.

I didn't realize there would be video's out there, thanks. This could have turned out to be very dangerous. As I said I couldn't hit anything with a scope or iron sights but after my friend pointed it out you could actually see it when you tried lining the scope up with the barrel.

Couple of comments. One thing I wonder about is , if you scope the golden Boy, when you need to clean it, you need to remove the cover. Therefore: you will have no choice but to remove the scope every time, in order to remove the cover for cleaning. It is impossible to remove the cover with the scope on, unless someone knows a trick that I don't. It seems that will make holding 0 aim point with the scope not possible. And will require re zeroing after each cleaning? The other comment is, I am having some disappointment with the one I purchased very recently. The gold coloring in the lettering has disappeared on some of the letters. Mine is very new , less than two weeks since purchased and handled with extra care! I do agree that it seems well built, fun to shoot, and has very good over all fit. But the durability of my finishing is just somewhat disappointing. I also have much more cash in mine at this time (as your posting was some what dated I guess). $570 purchase plus tax, $50.00 for large loop lever, $50.00 scope mount, plus the price of a scope.

I agree with you on the Marlin 39 A being the better choice for a dependable and accurate lever action 22. But you are going to spend about two or three times more money for the older rifle that doesn't have a safety. Ones in excellent condition go for $600 to $900. Very good review.

Love my new Henry Golden Boy....except small front bead sight is difficult for these senior eyes to see and focus on in less than perfect lighting or against dark target background. First time shooting with stock small front brass bead, got 2" group at 15 yards. Applied Gun-Glo phosferescent to front sight. Second day shooting, able to focus on and not lose front glowing sight...grouping at 15 yards was 1/2 " and at 25 yards could put all 16 rounds in a soft ball circle. I've tried 5 different makes of inexpensive bulk 22 LR , and Henry Golden Boy feeds and fires all extremely well. Don't laugh, but I bought a pair of soft cotton gloves for casual handling.. .. ..

You seriously need to post a correction and an apology for making false assumptions. The sight and barrel band are NOT plastic on ANY of their rifles. If you had done just a couple minutes of research before creating a review you would have found out that the parts you claimed were plastic are indeed steel.
