The Henry Golden Boy Lever-Action Rifle

You'll never lose the magazine! Slower to load and get into action, but the magazine tube does hold and cycle shorts, longs and long rifle ammo which is why my grandpa loved his old pump action .22 for small game hunting during the depression. Henry is a great company and I'd really like to get their small game rifle with the large loop, octagon barrel, and skinner peep sights.

I retired at 60 I always wanted a henry. I worked hard my whole life I'm buying whatever I want. It's my favorite rifle. My kids know I'm not leaving them a dime. I didn't blink an eye at the cost. It's expensive. So what?

Won mine about 4-5 years ago in a raffle. Could never get used to the semi-buckhorn sight (Ps. I'm 78 years old). You guys are going to hate me for this but she now rocks a red dot sight and I'm loving it.

I'm only 58 and my eyes won't focus properly for open sights anymore either I just ordered the cloverleaf peep sight from RPP if that doesn't work I'll have to mount a scope maybe I can have it brass plated first.

Nicest rifle I have ever owned in my life. However, I'm a so called "Boomer" so I suppose I'm bias. Young people these days can't apricate fine quality and butter smooth actions.

I bought one 9 years ago, haven't shot it much but they are top notch like you said. Heavy for the size due to the barrel I suppose. The action is so smooth, it doesn't feel mechanical like a Winchester Model 94 that clunks and bangs when you cycle it. The sights are my only gripe, the brass bead front sight isn't too crisp, it actually obscures the target quite a bit. Awesome rifles overall. Good video, be good.

I polished my Brass loading rod with BrassO it will remove all discoloration and makes it appear golden!

I have the H001 lever gun-plane jane and love it. Saving my nickels and dimes to buy one in 22 mag. Not the golden boy,$150 for the brass cover is crazy. Picked up 2 Ruger Wranglers and they go very well with the 001. Want the mag to go with my Ruger Single six. Henry levers and Ruger singles Woo-Hoo fun

Hands down the golden boy is the best .22 rifle the Henry classic action is too stiff and bringing the hammer up on the Henry classic almost feels like you could accidentally let it go with the golden boy you don't have those issues it never lets you down just keep it clean after 1000 plus rounds which is insane for a .22 rifle i promise you a semi auto.22 rifle won't hold up for a 1000 rounds without jams that's why you keep it .556 if you're running a semi automatic rifle

The butt plate is real brass but not the receiver or receiver cover. It's made from a zinc alloy called Zamac-5. Real brass or blued steel would have pushed these rifles past the price point that Henry was willing to go. That said, Zamac-5 will hold up. Plus, it neither affects the rifle's accuracy or Henry's trade mark sooth action. It just doesn't look as nice.

Why? That would take so much of the historical feel out of lever guns. I mean an AR is perfectly balanced as a bush gun like hunting hogs and deer in thickets. Just like lever actions in higher calibers. The mag would be a hinderence of the way you carry a lever gun. The problem lies with the weight in the field. .22 wouldn't matter much but centerfires will.

Im dissapponted with mine because of the cheap brasslite reciever. Its not real brass and is a clear coat that mimics brass and is extremely prone to scratching. Mine got some lighter scratches just from being in a protective soft case and much deeper ones just from resting it on a plastic table. Overall it is a very nice firearm, shoots and feels amazing. But the cheap receiver finish defeats the purpose of paying a lot more for a better looking rifle and i expected more from Henry rifles. I might have it ti-nitride coated in the future or something.
