I used to think that suspension forks were complicated and scary things that were beyond my mechanical skills and now I know that suspension forks are indeed complicated and scary things that are beyond my mechanical skills. Top vid as usual Dave, keep 'em coming!

Nice work, did you use a heat gun or blow torch to heat the bottoms?
@obsession_engineering Жыл бұрын
I've used both over the years, blow torch is better

What did you use to turn the stansions out with?
@obsession_engineering4 жыл бұрын
I've made a socket with a slot in, then put a 6mm bolt through the hole at the top of the stantion and use a breaker bar to turn it
@stephenmcqueen40294 жыл бұрын
@@obsession_engineering thanks for the reply. I don't see any holes at the top?

Unless they are under the bushing?

I love your videos but I really wish you'd show us you doing the tough bits eg getting the old stanchions out of the fork bottoms. Just an edit - blink oh you missed it. :(
@obsession_engineering4 жыл бұрын
I will try to add some more details, just a bit awkward sometimes to record it and do the work. And not end up with vids all an hour long, lol
@ruaraidhmcdonald-walker95244 жыл бұрын
@@obsession_engineering Oh I don't think anyone would complain!! It's all bread and butter to you as a racer but for the rest of us it's these awkward bits that really complicate these jobs!! I do realise you're trying to work of course. Have you a tripod you can use?

Thats a SP2 fork. SP1’s fork is darker in color. On my side of the world anyway.
@paulcavacuiti41763 жыл бұрын
For the UK market, the year 2000 SP1 (Y) model had the darker forks, but the year 2001 model (which this appears to be as its also missing the bobbin threads on the swing arm) had different colour forks and brake disks which are closer to the SP2 items in looks.
