I have this Rife for two years now and love it. It's barrel is 19/and 3/4 " long with no choke. The longer 24" version is more suitable for bird hunting and has an invector choke. The 410 Henry is based on the 45/70 platform which I also have as well as a 30/30 and recently a 410 Axe! Side by side the 410 & 45/70 are hard to tell apart. It's prudent that the rifles be cleaned & lubed as the oil from the factory isn't meant to break the gun in. & Yes short stroking the lever will cause a jamb

Looks like a fun little gun to use around the farm yard for pests around the chicken coop and plinking with buddies. I ordered one a few days ago after looking at them for awhile and am excited to get one. Thought about getting a lower cost 410 for the farm yard but wouldn't be as much fun to shoot. I have even used it for ducks and doves a few times, I think the novelty part is the home defense rounds for those snake charmer pistols and such, which you are right that does hurt the overall cost of the shells in the long run, but you do make some valid points.

@Kamril Sounds like a great piece. At that price point who could argue! Certainly much more affordable than the Henry and semi-auto holding 10 .410 shells would be a lot of fun to shoot. I still have concerns regarding the .410 cartridge itself though. I have yet to try firing one since the accident that crippled my spine. What's the recoil like on your Saiga? I'm a die hard AR fan. I've been this way since first firing the M16 A1 in Marine Corps boot camp in 1984. Now with arthritis in my lower spine, It's the only rifle that doesn't hurt when I shoot it. I've tried other rifles that claim to have recoil buffering. But, only the AR's buffer works well enough to shoot it pain free. My Ruger 10-22 kicks harder than my AR. :)

So this gun is heavily based on the marlin designs, not just in general, but specifically the Marlin 410 from the early 2000s (the shareholder 1920s guns are rather different). In fact, I want to say the bolts are interchangeable if that gives you a good idea on the receiver shapes and whatnot. The main difference is refinement, and the marlin uses a traditional loading gate. I have a marlin, buddy recently got a henry. His is a better build quality gun, but I bought mine a little used and abused too. He's 100% right on it being so heavy the little 410 generates no recoil. Even the heavier slugs feel like 22s. It does still balance and point nicely, but the Henry system for loading which makes sense with a lot of 22s isn't ideal for a 410 as you have to manipulate it in weird ways if you don't want to flag yourself or others, and 5 rounds in the tube don't last all to long while at the range. Biggest issue I've seen is people assuming it's a rifle. Walk up to a clay stand with one and the RSO is going to be rather concerned. I want to say Henry has a newer model 410 with a loading gate now, which would be the ideal take of this platform.

Not a fan of the tub magazine, other than that Henry makes a great gun
@earlhollar19064 жыл бұрын
My mother had a Remington bolt action 410 shotgun. Same type of tube magazine. She lived in Minnesota before moving to Dakota. It may have been used for hunting deer also.

id love to have a 410 pump...i dont know why but i always loved 410, i think its just because the little shells are so cute haha

@@ragimundvonwallat8961 Why I like .410 shotguns 1 gets the job done 2 powerful, without thumping recoil. 3 I like lever - action guns 4 I like shotguns This is the perfect gun for me. Not to mention the amount of fun my son has shooting jackrabbits around the ranch.

Many years ago, the first squirrel I have shot was with a .410...that said, this would be a really nice 'first shotgun' for a kid...BUT for the problems of it being 2-1/2" chambered (3" have MUCH better patterning...far more noticeable than in a 12-gauge), and that cylinder choke just makes 2-1/2" chambering worse. The $895 price tag also really tortures this as a 'first gun' for most kids, as a result...no one usually drops almost a grand on a first firearm for a kid (I think my old H&R set my parents back around $41...new...in the day). Pretty...and it's a Henry...but priced out of its own market, and not featured enough to compete...sorry.

Honest guy ! Some people are so quick to blame gear that they don't know how to use, ( not that I have lever actions myself)

I wish we could shoot steel on the other side of that fence. Is there any other range I can join where we can shoot steel targets ?
@LegallyArmedAmerica5 жыл бұрын
LateNite not sure, man. Maybe members should petition Mr Lee to allow steel to be shot

There's nothing wrong with Henry I have two of them I can tell you right now neither one of them never failed me I have a 44 Magnum with an octagon barrel brass receiver let me tell you what that thing is a tack driver

I'm with you all day on that finger print thing. I find that a good (excellent) fitting pair of deerskin gloves takes care of it and also is a lot more forgiving on your lever hand.

It would be nice if it came with a rifled barrel for slugs.
