This is my overall opinion: This film is actually cool! I like the characters, the voice acting, and the colors! This is REAL proof that Henry Selick worked BEYOND hard on this film. It is truly amazing. :) :)

To me, looking back on all the horror movies I’ve watched, Coraline was probably the creepiest. How do I explain it? It wasn’t dark like most movies with gore and jump scares, it was more sinister and evil, with plans to capture kids and eat their lives.

I believe that if Tim Burton hadn't let Henry Selick direct The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline wouldn't have such a Burtonish style.

I completely disagree. Selick and Burton are similar in the sense that they both like creepy aesthetics, but if you watch their films back to back, you'll notice that Selick's style is very different from Burton's. Burton has super contrasty colors and objective perspective shots, while Selick tends to have softer cinematography and more subjective film shots.
