Henry VII English Monarchs Animated History Documentary

Henry VII w as King of England for around 24 years, from 1485 to 1509.
He’s the first of our Tudor kings, having overthrown his predecessor, the Yorkist Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth.
The Tudor period lasted 118 years and is one of those eras that kind of bridges the gap between the long lasting Medieval period and modern times.
Perhaps more famously Henry VII - or Henry Tudor - is also known for being the father of arguably the most famous king in world history … Henry VIII.

5:45 regarding Lambert Simnel, part of the reason this ruse failed so spectacularly was because George Duke of Clarence's son was actually still alive at the time (wasn't executed until the end of the Perkin Warbeck fiasco).

*The Yorkists were also descendants of Edward's 2nd surviving son, Lionel of Clarence. Thus the Yorkists were doubly entitled- triply if you count Edward IV being the great grandson of John of Gaunt via his Mom, Cecily Neville, Duchess of York.

Henry VIII took strongly after his mother’s father, Edward IV, who was similarly huge and grew very fat at the end of his life. They’re the two tallest kings in English history. Both were lean and athletic in their youth but put on weight in middle age. Henry VII was a lean Welshman; oddly, his granddaughter Elizabeth I might have taken after him a bit.
