Didn't Puritans first flee to places like Normandy/Denmark to flee the UK? I wouldn't ever place Normandy and all of those places as Catholic...! But it's interesting. And the church if England ironically copied the Catholic Church in many ways, and they were both very pagan vs Christian. It's fascinating how far back the corruption goes. If someone else was king there would still have been a mixed of people's influencing one another so we can't really know what would've come of it all ultimately. Maybe England would now have a more fair economy, clean drinking water for all for free (idk if that's a thing already, it's not in the USA), and fuel to heat their homes. The forefathers of the USA were snakes in the grass as well, yes they sought more freedoms for the people (or for some wealthier men anyway) because that campaign worked...but they weren't exactly heroes they were also selfish and greedy and anti-Christian.
