Save for the strange dialect of the choir, this rendition is mine favored thus far. Well done. It gladdens me exceedingly to have finally heard a rendition of mine song with a fairly accurate pronunciation of the lyrics! May God grant thee health and protection. Written by the hand of him who ardently desires to be your king in mind, heart, and spirit, H.R.

I think Henry VIII's handwriting looks very cool. It's interesting to see the long S and the macron used in English at this time.

More likely a professional copyist - the elaborate initial letters, a holdover from before the invention of printing, look like the work of someone who did it for a living.
@speedyx3493

I really doubt this is Henry VIII's own writing, he probably created a draft, the court composer took a look at it, made some minor corrections and had it copied by a scribe. The king himself probably wrote the usual cursive of his times and class

I've been close up to two pieces of Henry VIII's armour. He was a GIANT in Tudor times - 6 feet 1 inch (just over 1 metre 85 centimetres)

I love this, and I love the special scale, which is different to us. I can hear a major pattern at the end of the phrases. It sounds like a sexy song, a bit irresponsible, like King Henry the XIII succumbs to his passion, and sexual urges, which he calls love (live) or something. Nice to hear how it would have been prounounced back then.

Wer soll mich daran hindern?

As an aficionado of Western history, (armchair) linguistics and Vocaloids, this seems well done. Which Vocaloids were used for this reconstruction?

Thanks for the comment. I don't remember which Vocaloid I used for this version of Pastyme. But here is a more recent rendition that I like better. I corrected the pronunciation a bit and made a few other adjustments. For this newer incarnation of the song, I used the Cyber Songman voice bank: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXyViXx3aJylgpo

@@earlymusicmidi why did you put the modern lyrics on the screen instead of putting them in Middle English?
