I am so grateful to Hashem for showing me your channel. I no longer feel lost. I also understand my grandparents silence and lack of information. The great mystery of my Sephardic roots are being revealed with my genetics, last maiden name and the history your presenting... Thank you!

Dr. Abramson, thank you for the wonderful lecture. I always learn a lot listening to your lectures. And thanks for showing us a picture of your grandparents... they were a very handsome couple and no doubt very courageous to pull up stakes and head for a faraway land. Chag Pesach Kasher v'Sameach!

Professor, it's so great to hear your jokes again! I laughed out loud a few times at the screen. Your map showing the movements of the Jewish people to different parts of the world reminds me of Genesis 22:18, "In your seed all the nation of the earth shall be blessed" :)

After an ancestry test revealed much more Jewish heritage than I originally thought, I've been inspired to learn more about my history. It turns out my great-grandparents fled the Russian empire during the pogroms mentioned in this lecture from what is now Ukraine. Given the situation in Ukraine now, I feel all the more connected to my heritage. Thank you for the great lecture!

Thanks for the lecture. I think it was a great thing that you highlighted a lot of the differences in mentality between the different waves of Jewish migrants. All important in understanding why we are, where we are in the present.

My hometown in Western Maryland had a synagogue building [1950s] that served both Reform and Conservative congregations; was this common? Thanks again for your great lectures.

It wasn't their intention to go to New Amsterdam. Their ship was taken by pirates, retaken by a French ship, not heading back to Europe , who dropped them off in New Amsterdam

Enjoyed, as usual. Do you any further information on Jews from Amsterdam? When, how come, etc.
